An interesting place to visit. The guy who runs the place was really informative. Don't think it was worth $10 entrance fee.

A fantastic experience!! Alan is a wonderful teacher with a huge amount of knowledge. We had a great time learning how to pan for gold and admiring his impressive collection of historical memorabilia. Absolutely check out this attraction and support this wonderful local business.

We had a excellent tour yesterday. Alan was a delight to listen too. We tried gold panning which was very interesting. Manage to get some small particles of gold. Probably not going to make us rich though.
We would recommend this tour to everyone young or old.

Firstly, if it says online that the moners cottage is closed online, please pop by! The owner is usually nearby and can open up for you as he did for us, much to our delight.

We spent a couple of happy hours here chatting to Alan, the lovely gentleman who runs the museum, and panned for gold (best $5 ever spent). We learned so much local history and were shown some very interesting curiosities in his collection.

An absolute must do in Charters Towers.

.... Make sure you ask about the ghost!

Wow, we found a piece of gold in Charters Towers and I don’t mean the kind you pan for, although we found that too. Alan and his Miner’s Cottage was great, very entertaining and a must do.
It wasn’t open, but a quick phone call and Alan kindly came down, showed us around, taught us how to pan for gold and even sung a song for us.
Highly recommended for all groups.
Even worth braving the heat, although panning for gold on his deck was quite pleasant despite the 40 degrees.
Thanks again Alan.

There's a huge amount to see in this tiny old house. Relics, equipment and household utensils from yesteryear are displayed throughout. Alan is a great host, and tells some great stories. The highlight for us was panning for gold. Alan demonstrated his expert technique, and in only a few minutes we too struck gold. Fun!

The best interactive attraction I’ve been to. Get some pay dirt and learn how to pan for Gold. Then look through all the old treasures. Alan does a great job.
