Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I'm so impressed with QLD small town museums and this is another one to add to the list.
Wander through at your own pace. A few interactive activities for the kids and adults.
Such a great insite into how the RFDS came into existence and continues today

This was on the list to do and so glad we did. Entry is free but please leave a donation for the great work this service does. Even on an outback road trip you never know if you might need these guys. The displays are interesting and information past and present are great.

What a great museum. It explains how they RFD began and why we still need them now. We loved the amount of information explaining everything. Kids were amazed at people's real life stories.
WE spent over an hour here and it was completely free.

Great job RFD service this visitors centre was put together really well and is a great place to go and learn about the services that you provide. It is unmanned but is still worth a visit. I liked hearing the stories from customers and found the RFD boxes very interesting. Listening to calls gives an insight to what happens when you are called.
Well done!

Self guided display in small building beside rfds base. Lots of information and displays to explore. Even allowing 30 minutes would be sufficient time to see everything.
Entry by donation., so please be generous

This is really one of those places you just have to visit. Unless you are in the <5% of Australians who live in the 'outback' you are highly unlikely to have ever used will need the assistance of the RFDS.
But you will likely have learned of the RFDS at school.
So - no visit to Charleville is complete without a visit to the RFDS Visitors Centre.
Its just simple - come have a look and learn about this amazing organization.

We visited the RFDS visitor centre whilst we were staying in Charleville, it is located close to Cosmos Centre and Charleville Airport.
The visitor centre was fairly small however there was a lot of exhibits packed into a relatively small area. There were several interactive displays as well as a comprehensive potted history of the service, quirky and interesting details of RFDS that we certainly didn't know about including a large interactive exhibit explaining about the medical chests that are distributed by RFDS to families and communities in remote locations.
There was also a large selection of souvenirs available to purchase. At the entrance there was a memorial commemorating Dr Allan Robert Stanley Vickers who worked for the Royal Flying Doctor Service for 35 years. We enjoyed our visit to the Royal Flying Doctors Visitor Centre which was hugely informative and there were many things we learnt about the service that we did not previously know.

We called in for a ten minute visit and stayed for over an hour. It was very interesting watching the videos of patients, nurses, doctors and pilots, giving an insight into the history and need of such a valued service . Looking through the display / museum was fascinating. It really is one of our best resources, allowing people to live and work in the outback without the worry of being isolated from medical treatment when needed. I also had the opportunity to meet one of the pilots. A must see while in Charleville

We visited today. Small but informative display. We learned much and gained an appreciation for the importance of the RFDS in Oz. Like Qantas, another great contribution from Queensland to our Nation.
Royal Flying Doctors Service is a great contribution to Outback Australia, started by a humble Presbyterian Christian Minister from Cloncurry a hundred years ago. Make sure to leave a donation or buy some souvenirs in supporting this Service.

I enjoyed the small display and because of the great work that they do, I went to the office and made a donation - every dollar helps them with their 24/7 work all year.

Sorry I can't remember as it was a couple of months ago, I remember it was a Monday and the hangar was closed due to their RDO, check with the Charleville information centre, they can help you.
