We headed across for a 4 night / 5 day hike at the start of September. What a place – the hiking is relatively easy but as speccy as you’ll find. Taking the longer boat trip from Lucinda at the start was awesome – it gives you an idea of the size and topography of the island and builds the... More

We had to tick this hike off our bucket list and had heard great reviews from friends who had done the Thorsborne Trail... and it didn't disappoint. We (2 adults and a 12 year old) decided to take 6 days/ 5 nights for the hike so we could have a couple of rest days to enjoy the sights. The Trail... More

Recently completed the trail with 8 friends, all middle aged with differing levels of fitness. The most challenging thing I have ever attempted in my life but the wonderful memories I have brought back with me has been worth it. Highly recommend however my advice is to take it slow and steady, enjoy the natural beauty that surrounds you and... More

Hitchenbrook island is beautiful and the hike is well worth it. Excellent walk full of fresh water holes, waterfalls, stunning beaches and lots of varied native trees and shrubs. Recommend Hitchenbrook island cruises for boat transfers.

This is the "papa-bear" of the Great Barrier Reef islands. Its completely uninhabited with a limit of 40 people permitted to stay at any one time to protect the island's Biodiversity. Camping gear packed, boots strapped-on we tackled the 32 km Thorsborne Trail. The scenery is stunning as is the cacophonous sounds that have you imagining wild things.. Loved it.... More

My wife and I did the Thorsborn trail to celebrate our 50ths. A slice of nature beauty at its best, fantastic hike and opportunity to get of the grid! Due to heavy rain the week before it was more challenging than expected but the track is well marked and the National Parks seem to do a great job looking after... More

Although the weather wasn't the best we thoroughly enjoyed visiting the island. It really is a must see and the Thornsbourne Trail absolutely fabulous. The Haven is also a nice spot on the west side of the island.

I couldn't give this a 5 star because surprisingly there was a fair bit of litter on many of the trails and the beach camping sites. Ashame given the limited number of people who come out here. It seems younger people are lazier and think littering is ok. Lazy scum
