Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We have just completed our 12 days tour with Far North Escapes. What an extraordinary experience! We enjoyed it thorough.

We really appreciate the thoughtfulness of the company in planning the routes, arranging the sites to visit, accommodations, food, as well as contingent plans in case anything went wrong (we were very lucky the weather showed great mercy on us).

Highly appreciated also the professionalism of the guiders in their local knowledge, the care to us as their guests, and friendly conversations all the way until reluctantly we said good bye.

This is the life time experience!

Just completed a 12 Day private tour of Cape York Peninsula. There we 6 of us including 2 teenagers and an 80 + year old, we all had a great time and enjoyed the trip. The places visited were amazing. The Daintree, Telegraph track, remote cattle stations, secluded beaches and of course the Tip of the continent. The accommodation was unique to each location and we enjoyed experiencing them all, with a few surprises like the open-air shower experience with spectacular views at Portland Roads to the truly isolated lagoon glamping at Wolverton. We were all very well fed especially the kids and their “snack provisions” (Aleea is still coming down from her chocolate high).
Thank you Mark for your expert driving, outstanding Chef skills and making this an unforgettable experience. Would highly recommend anyone thinking about travelling to this remote part of Australia to definitely go with Mark and his team from Far North Escapes.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 Day Cooktown Private Tour. The team at Far North Escapes were professional, responsive and customer focused. Our tour guide, Kane, was outstanding. He is enthusiastic, passionate and incredibly knowledgeable about the natural environment and all that lives within it. As it was a private tour, Kane was able to adapt it as we went along, constantly striving to tailor it to our interests, which he did marvellously. His Daintree Rainforest Night Walk tour is not to be missed. Kane enriched our experience immeasurably and was fascinating company as well.

Whilst the first 2 days did use Series 300 Landcruisers that were very comfortable, on day 3 they were swapped out for a series 79 dual cab Landcruiser and a 70 series LT Landcruiser with a rear facing 3 person bench seat fitted in the rear. The back seat of the dual cab Toyota 79 is very cramped, being taller i could not travel there for any length of time. The 70 LT series Landcruiser had vinyl seats, no real air conditioning in the rear (other that 2 flimsy electric fans) and three people were seated facing rearwards. Whist legroom was much better in that vehicle the rear facing seats meant on dusty roads the rear only view was dominated by the dust cloud. Entry to the back of that vehicle was also challenging via the rear door for those less agile. The guides fortunately were very diligent in rotating people around seating positions which was somewhat helpful. On day three we were also given a small tote bag and asked to donwsize our luggage despite it being well within that specified in the itineary. The "spare bag" was taken back to Cairns and we ere very relieved to find it waiting at our hotel on return.
The itinerary promised a stay or at least a visit to Cooktown. However the day before we were due to go there we were told that Cooktown had been taken off the itinerary and we would not go there at all. We were devastated to learn this as we were very keen to visit this historic town. Instead we stayed at the tour operator's very average accommodation in Cape trib and had a very very long day to Wolverton Station.
Accommodation however was generally a good standard, within what was likely available in the area. All nights included en suite bathrooms and tea making in room (except the tents at wolverton which were well aware of that). The exception was the Daintree accommodation owned by the tour operators which did have en suites but were otherwise very spartan ! At most locations the host met us and warmly welcomed us (except at cape trib !). Despite the tour owner being nearby us at various times he never bothered to come and say hello !
The itinerary stated "you will be treated to a scenic Cape York helicopter flight over The Tip of Australia" but were were advised when we got there that that was not the case and we would have to pay an additional $100 each if we wanted to fly over the tip !
We were not met at Cairns airport on return and had to find our own way back into town which was not expected.
On the plus side our two guides were very informative, cheerful and helpful, most hosts were very welcoming, accommodating and informative, and the small group were great, which made what could have been a very average experience a positively memorable one.

The trip was excellent, the accommodation was good and the tour guides knew far north Queensland very well. They showed us a real environmental perspective and experience. My only negative is that we took the Premium package which cost circa $2,000 extra but was pretty well the same as the basic package.

Kane guided us on this afternoon Bloomfield Track drive. He lives a breaths the Daintree having grown up locally. He’s highly knowledgeable and provided us with a detailed insite to its history, ecology, life in the Daintree and of its indigenous northern Daintree community . We would thoroughly recommend this tour

Our guide, Des, was incredibly entertaining and knowledgeable, and made the entire family comfortable from the start. As a CapeTrib local, Des knows the ins and outs of the Rainforest, and was able to give us some local flavor, along with the standard sights. We learned a ton, and had a blast doing it. Our 21 and 19 year old kids were not even tempted to get on their phones, which is high praise for Des! We would highly recommend this tour.

This adventure was one of our most enjoyable trips. Our guides, Kel and Kane, were very professional & knowledgeable and attended to all of our needs. Every day was filled with stunning scenery and amazing walks. The trip had many highlights which included great food and comfortable accommodation. Our vehicle was the Fuso truck that proved very adaptable to the challenging road conditions and was driven by Kel who displayed excellent driving skills and installed confidence at every turn. The trip has provided us with a lifetime of memories and exceeded our expectations.

The number of particpants (16) was too big for a night walk (especially on a board walk). Beiing at the end of the group, it was very difficult to hear or see anything that the guide was showing. Furthermore, the guide's talk was too much focused on mushrooms and not enough on animals.
Very disappointing for our family.

We did the 9 Day 4WD Premium Cape York Tour with 2 other couples in September 2023. We had a great time. The trip was well organized with good transport, accommodation and food. The tour covered a lot of the highlights of northern Queensland. The guides Andrew and Andrea were knowledgeable and very professional and took care of us very well. We would strongly recommend this trip to others interested in exploring northern Queensland/Cape York.
