Unless there are northerlies, greys bay, Innamincka/first patch are winter mackerel fishing at its best. Set with your tinnie in N>E direction for about 5 kms and get lucky.
We have been there with some 50 boats on one square km and all bagging out.
I can, after 12 years, no longer go to decrepit old age health problems, but the stories get even better with time.

Bowen the "Gem of the Coral Coast" is famous for its beaches and has many to choose from but in my opinion Greys Bay is the best. When the weather is blowing which is often in Bowen Greys bay is usually well protected. Stingers are rare in Greys due to the currents but must be said are not unseen. The beach has a nice table with a view and another under the tree next to the beach. Also good fun for snorkelling with a nice bit of reef not far off the rocks. The rocks on the right hand side are often used by fishermen also.

Great spot to soak up the sun and to have a quick dip. There are a few rocks around and if possible go when the tide is higher. Plenty of parking.

Best place in Bowen to swim,canoe snorkel fish etc. Usually calm waters and facilities are near by. Good for little ones

Visited on Wednesday 19th September. Where ever we visit we make sure to check out the beaches, if you have the times include this one.

Another beautiful bay around Bowen. The views out here once again are spectacular and we sat appreciating them listening to a couple of people behind us who had both sailed in here and how good the experience was. We were more than happy just to sit here and appreciate the views.

A lovely safe swimming beach if you prefer calmer water but the best time is at sunset for the magnificent sunsets - keep walking towards the headland for the best views.

This is my favourite spot in Bowen… so in love with Gray’s Bay… so stunning! Worth seeing really. I hope to visit this place again soon.

I know we all have seen great sun sets but every one is unique and Grays bay is one of those, definitely worth seeing and enjoying.

Good spot for a quick ocean dip. Water is calm nice fine creamy sand. They have outdoor showers. They have change room and toilet facilities are clean and maintained.
