Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We have never been to Mount French National Park before, but I am really glad we chose now to visit. There was a kaleidoscope of butterflies on the grass tree stem just hanging out. I have never seen anything like it before. There have been a lot of butterflies in our area lately but they never stop long enough to get a close look.
The view was nice, but for me it was the butterflies that made the trip.

Travelling through to Queen Mary Falls we stopped in to the lookout at the Mt French National Park for a look.
It's a really lovely spot and we really enjoyed the view and got some great pics.
There were some people camping at the site, but I don't think it would be for me. It was pretty much a car park and you had very little space to properly set up.
Definitely worth a visit, but I don't know if I'd stay there.

About 1km out of Boonah, you come across the Dugandan Hotel. Turn right here and follow the road to the top. I didn't think it was very steep, more of a gradual climb with a few steeper sections. The road up is all bitumen and a very scenic drive. Once at the top, there are about enough parking spaces for at least 20 cars. There is an information board and an amenities block at the carpark, also picnic tables and gas BBQ's. From here you can do two walks. We did the Logans Lookout walk, which was only 360 meters and had a bitumen track all the way to the Lookout platform. Ideal for those in wheelchairs. There was beautiful views of the country side and you could see the township of Kalbar from here. Great little side trip from Boonah, approximately 10-15mins drive.

Beautiful short walks, nice view of Main Range. Small campground - walk ins. There are a few spots for camprvans for overnight but I personally did't like it. It's just a carpark. There are better places to stay overnight.

It was a good experience to reach the Mt French lookout spot. The view was amazing as you could see the valley below. Great spot to click some nice pictures. Do have insect repellents with you as there were lot of flies. The toilets were clean. The trail markings were clear to read and follow. This place also has camping spots as well.

A fairly easy short drive from Boonah, turn off a few kilometres south along Boonah-Rathdowney Rd and then on paved road to Mount French carpark a further 10 minutes (9kms). We were there on a weekday outside of school holidays and had the place to ourselves. Parking is limited so may be a challenge on weekends and busy times. There are toilet facilities but need to bring own drinking water and snacks.. Two walking tracks are offered and clearly marked however one is presently closed due to evidence of a plant virus. This was disappointing as remaining walk is only 360 metres one way to view point. Lovely scenic view of rim and surrounding countryside but all over with pretty quickly! Paved path is mostly level and flat so would be suitable for low levels of fitness and possibly suitable for wheel chairs. Also bush camping sites that can be reserved and paid for on line.

Easy access. Bitumen road to the top of the mountain and then easy access to Logan's Lookout for spectacular views of Kalbar, Flinders Paek and Cunningham's Gap. Bathrooms and picnic tables provided near the car park.

A Sunday afternoon drive to Mt French through picturesque countryside resulted in the most amazing views overlooking the Fassifern Valley – totally unexpected – just a short walk through the scrub along a well-maintained path suitable for wheelchair access, the peace and tranquillity of the forest was overwhelming. A small car park, picnic tables, BBQ, a Toilet Block all very clean and well maintained provided. Two walks available, only did one as were unprepared so have reason to return another day to tackle the other. Back down the mountain for a delicious late lunch in Boonah at Café 17.

South of Boonah, on the Boonah/Rathdowney Rd, take the Mt French turnoff at the Dugandan Hotel. The road up Mt French is sealed all of the way to the small carpark at the top of the mountain. The paths around Mt French are all sealed. There are two lookouts on Mt French. Logans Lookout is 360 metres from the carpark, along a very easy flat path. The views from Logans Lookout are stunning, from the South to the West, to the North... more than 180 degrees of views! The other walk is Mee-Bor-Rum, which is about 850 metres long, and is made up of 3 sections. The first and third parts are paved and smooth, but the centre third is over a natural rock watercourse, which is not wheelchair, or disabled friendly! There is a lookout/rest area in the middle, with excellent views of mountains to the south. Mount French is also popular with rock climbers, and abseilers. There is a camping area, and excellent barbecue and toilet facilities. Definitely worth the drive up for the views!

Mount French National park is accessed by Mount French Road off the Rathdowney Road just outside Boonah. It has good parking, very nice picnic areas and 2 lovely easy well signed walks which lead to extensive views. The information boards in the car parks explain the aboriginal history and the fauna and flora. This area has been a popular day trip picnic spot since the area was first settled.
