Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I checked out the updated website which indicated that tours were10am 11am 12noon and 1pm. Nowhere did it say that, in order to view the Woolscour, you MUST be on a tour. So many places we visit have the ability to self-guide or join a tour, whatever best suits the individual.
We arrived at 1.15 and were told that we were too late and would have to come back the following day at 10am. The lady at the counter was not at all empathetic to our situation.
Had we known that we needed to join a tour in order to see this attraction we would have left our overnight accommodation earlier to ensure we got to Blackall in time. We were all very disappointed and annoyed at the lack of information on the website
We weren’t able to go back the next day due to travel commitments already made
Hopefully this helps other travellers who wish to see the Woolscour Mack sure you arrive early enough to join a tour

Went out of our way to visit the woolscour. Checked online and it clearly states tours 7 days a week at 10am, 11am 12pm and 1pm. Arrived for the 1pm tour to be told oh we have changed the times to 1130am and 3pm due to volunteers, we werent the only ones who missed out. While I understand that, they really need to update their site so it is accurate. It's one thing when you're in the city and people can easily come back another time, it's another thing when you're well out of the way and can't just come back again another time.

There were people there that, I believe, could have quickly shown us around but that wasn't offered.

Blackall and the volunteers who rescued the WoolScour for us to learn and visit should be proud. Thoroughly enjoyed the one hour tour starting with a short video in the drovers kitchen then the tour with Scott as our guide. Starting with the bore, the steam engine , furnace then shearing sheds. The highlight was the wool scouring machines operating and the information from Scott. Highly recommend.

A really great insight to the town's history & even Australia's history. The only original one left & totally worth a visit. It made it even more special that our tour guide was someone who actually worked there when it was fully operational back in the day. The only thing I found odd was that there wasn't any wool or thing made from wool to purchase in the shop. Regardless, the main attraction is amazing & a must do. Thank you.

The only wool scour shed left. Lovingly restored by the local volunteers of Blackall to its former working life. Relaxed, informative tour . Artesian bore providing the water at 58 degrees for all the washing process in the past.

Blackall Wool Scour is a valuable historical site containing one of only two remaining industrial steam driven engines of its type in the world.

Great foresight was shown by locals to ensure that this rare wool scour is preserved.

The volunteer guide gave us a great look at how raw wool was processed for export in the old days. On some days, the engine is operated under steam power.

One comment to the site management: you do need to resolve the issue with your toilets. The current arrangement is not good enough, given that most visitors are seniors. Quite inexcusable, actually!

It was good to see that the wool Scourer has been restored to before decommissioning days and you can actually see how it all worked. Our guide wad very knowledgeable and gave a comprehensive account of the scouring process.. A small party certainly made it a better experience.

Couple in our 40’s and glad we visited. The local community have spent a lot of time and effort restoring the Woolscour.

Great to see we haven’t lost the history and machinery.

Due to COVID restrictions no toilets at this location.

Exceptional tour. Very informative and Scott who did the tour was entertaining, knowledgeable, and perfect to tell the story and share the history. The grounds were in immaculate condition and given it is run by volunteers, all credit to them for their dedication and ensuring that we do not lose this history.

Wonderful tour of the complex. Scott capably guided us through the shearing shed and the woolscour. He gave us a fabulous insight into the way this large complex worked and the history around grazing, shearing and the working relationships. It was an unexpected highlight on our trip
