Educative experience with Bats and Flying Foxes
Sep. 2021
I have to admit I never thought of a bat in a very kind way. Today's presentation was sensational, educational, informative session and close encounters with this little animal was heartwarming. A very knowledgeable guide with a obvious passion and commitment to the conservation of bats and their habitat. A must see experience for young and old who will learn much about this mysterious animal. Highly recommended.

Very knowledgeable and dedicated staff take you around the bat hospital facility. We got to see a number of different bat species and learnt so much about this often misunderstood animal. Adorable to visit when there are baby bats being cared for :)

Brilliant, informative and so charming- all those little and big bats being tenderly cared for- exceeded all expectations. Groups were kept small, and our guide was very engaging.

Enjoyable and Educational

It was recommended to visit the Bat Hospital by a volunteer at the tourist information centre. I’m so glad she did as we were unaware of such a place. Jenny, the manager and owner of the property was our guide and she has clearly dedicated her life to these fascinating and delightful creatures.

We learned so much in the hour and half tour especially how the bats contribute greatly to our delicate eco systems and how modern things like fruit tree nets and barbed wire have a devastating effect on them.

I loved that we were able to get up close to the flying foxes to see their cute little personalities and also that we were able understand more about how they came to be there.

Don’t hesitate to go see this fantastic place. It’s only $20!! What Jenny and her team are doing will just blow you away as it did us.

Highly recommended. The tour was the highlight of our trip. What a huge privilege to get up close and personal with these endearing animals. It was wonderfully informative, engaging and fascinating for all ages. Jenny and staff are extremely dedicated and passionate. A visit here will challenge your misconceptions about bats and illuminate the vital roles they play in ecosystems.

Great trip to the bat. hospital
Informed, passionate staff
Great to see the work that has been going on for years and to learn more about bats in Australia and specifically what has been happening to the bats in Cairns.

Need to call ahead to book but realistically, $20 for this is a bargain!

Thank you to Hannah who showed us around
