Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

St Peter’s Roman Catholic Church has stood on the slopes of Wombat Hill for over 150 years... in an area that has a lot of churches, this one really stands out. It has extensive grounds and the residence next to it.

The church was designed by the architect William Wardell (1823 – 1899) in a manner strongly influenced by the English architect Charles Hansom. This is substantial stone building and clearly the wealth of the goldfields in the area is how this was funded.

It's grounds are worth strolling around and they are open to the public to enter.

My husband and I were lucky enough to see inside this beautiful church, after making an appointment with the Administration office. It was special to see inside, as it was where my Great Great Grandparents were married in 1879. The interior of this church is beautiful, my photo's certainly don't do it justice. If you happen to be visiting Daylesford, I recommend making an appointment to see inside this beautiful church, it's worth it.

My family have been part of the congregation for generations so I may be biased, but the interior of this church is well worth a look. The influence of the Swiss Italian pioneers of the district is obvious in the hot pinks and vivid green surrounding the altar, complete with gold stencil work. The paintings of angels on the altar are stunning originals. Look for the saints below each roof rafter. St Peter's in one of a handful of churches depicting St Jude - but his face is turned away from the altar. The stained glass windows are also beautiful. Unfortunately the beauty of this church has been ruined to some degree by the carpet, but I suppose the congregation were cold in winter! The exterior is ruined. The standstone has been covered by some type of concrete looking render, which will cause more problems them it fixed.

This church was built in 1865 and looks in good condition for its age. It has recently been painted by the looks and the character of the bluestone makes it very appealing. The gardens are well maintained and a sculpture out the back a nice addition to the area. I wished it had been open because I could see stained glass windows and would have delighted in having a look.

Built in 1865 and recently renovated (2015). Is probably only open on Sundays (Mass service 10.30am). If open do have a look - is quite beautiful.
