When I judge a historical site, I consider several aspects: first, the quality of the landmark itself, then the setting, and most important, the history of the site. Even though the castle ruins are not as extensive as many others in England, Bramber Castle is...More

Not much of the castle left but the ruins are nice, kids can happily run around the moat and plenty of play area in the grounds.

The site of a Norman Castle that has been used and developed over a few centuries then left to decline. Now is an open space with the remains of the curtain wall and the gatehouse tower. Some information notices around tell a brief history.

These ruins are quite impressive up close. Shame there always seem to be youngsters hanging around leaving litter, but still worth a visit if in the area. Great views down int the Adur Valley. Good signs giving info about the castle.

Having eaten in the old tollgate, took guests over to the Castle and church as it was a nice sunny evening. Nice walk round (interesting aroma from the teenagers :)) and the church is neat and shows the Norman architectural style well.
