Came here on our way home from a weekend away and so glad we did. The museum is fantastic and plenty to see, the staff were lovely and great with the kids. I loved seeing all the old ways of veterinary. So much to see, I would say it's very much worth a visit. We got here quite late onish... More

Visited as a group on 27/4/17. Some first timers some revisiting. First timers where amazed at how real and authentic the exhibits are. The filming studios fascinated most of the group the amount of cameras, lighting etc needed for filming. Even adults loved a challenge in the interactive room challenging each other just unfortunately some pieces missing to complete one... More

This is a fun attraction if you are in the area, or even travel specially to get there. Lovers of the TV shows and film 'All Creatures Great and Small' or more recently 'The Yorkshire Vet', will really enjoy this. Even those who might be slightly interested in animals and their care will find it fascinating. There is plenty to see... More

Thank you for taking the time to write on trip advisor. What a lovely informative review, lots of information so future visitors get an idea of how large the museum is, and how much there is to see and do for all ages. You're right, in October 2016 we did celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the birth of Alf... More

So satisfying that the museum dedicated to this beloved author has been so well done. The rooms in Alf Wight's surgery have been preserved including the quirky pharmacy, the kitchen, the sitting room and a recorded "phone call" for you to listen to a sample of how a farmer would call in a medical need (couldn't understand it at all!... Thank you for taking the time to write on trip advisor. I'm glad you thought how well done the museum is, the rooms are set out just as though James Herriot (Alf Wight) will walk through at any second. It's great to hear the real Yorkshire dialect on the phone, I hope you were able to understand!!!!! Jim Wight, the... More

We visited as part of our Herriot Weekend with friends we made whilst at the Herriot Gala Dinner in October 2016. We spent the whole morning at the museum and thoroughly enjoyed it, from looking at all the items on display to answering THE phone. There's such a lot for kids too - big and small! The staff were all... More

We spent a couple of hours walking through the house and clinic of the real Dr. Herriot. It made the books that we've loved reading come alive. I would recommend this for any fan of All Creatures Great and Small. On the day we visited, the staff was very friendly and helpful. It's a very short train ride from York,... More

Thank you for taking the time to write on trip advisor. I'm glad you were able to spend a couple of hours walking through the house and attraction, from the outside you really can't imagine the extent of the building. You're right about the books, they do all come alive once inside the museum. I'm glad you found the staff... More

Lovely, informative museum, with a great variety of exhibits and activities. However, one staff member on front desk was very abrupt and not at all forthcoing, and when our child wasn't able to return the tiny well used pencil (given at the beginning to complete a quiz during the visit) the nasty way she was spoken to put a taint... Visited here this last week, a warm welcome and hospitality, easy to find from the centre of Thirsk. The museum is laid out nicely and there was an additional exhibition since our last visit, plenty to see and do. Whilst we don't have younger children we still visited the hands on exhibition part - it was so disappointing to see... More
