Not far from Sheffield, just round the corner from the Foxhouse Pub.
Great place for a Sunday walk, although it may be a bit crowded on a Sunday or bank holiday. Biggest disadvantage is you have to pay for the car park.

We walked along Stanage on our way to Hathersage for the eveing. There were lots of climbers, paragliders, walkers and runners enjoying the bracing fresh air and stunning views. Fabulous place for a day out.
Fabulous views from the top of the Edge. Maps and directions not really needed because there were plenty of people doing the same walk and many locals around to ask directions. We walked about 10 miles in all but we were lucky with the weather....More

Not sure about the car park, certainly there's nothing near the top of the ridge. There isn't a way to the top that I would think suitable for anyone who didn't want to walk much. There is a less steep path but it is a longer way to the ridge. I wouldn't recommend this for anyone reluctant to or not capable of tackling a slope and/or distance.
