Lovely house with some fantastic paintings. Very knowledgeable volunteers who made the visit more interesting. Fascinated to hear one room was used for the film Pride and Prejudice.

I am disabled and was EXTREMELY disappointed not to be able to park in the grounds. The car park was a really long way from the house, and across a busy road. With the best will in the world it was impossible for me to walk this far, I have a scooter not a wheel chair so I spent the... More

We have visited Sudbury Hall in the past and loved it, and spent hours there, but last weekend our visit was ruined by the Nationsl Trust's weird idea to take visitors back to the 1960s to see what the Hall was like when first acquired. Consequently magnificent furniture had been covered up and dragged to the side of rooms. Very... More

This is the first time for 20 years that I have visited Sudbury Hall. On this visit I was amazed to find that they had tried to show the Hall as it was 50 years ago when the NT took it over. They had done this by covering over most of the exhibits and rooms were closed. There was almost... More

The grounds and the museum here are very good! Having a walk around is beautiful, & the museum is great fun, & very nostalgic. However the house itself was slightly disappointing, out of the massive house many of the rooms were not open. We are national trust members so we got in for free, but if I had paid to... More

The National Trust have stripped this beautiful hall back to 1967 when they became the owners which means there are no wow factors apart from the beautiful plasterwork and ceilings. Many of the rooms mentioned in this years handbook are closed. Apparently if we return at the end of the year it will be restored to its usual visitor attraction,... More

We are very longstanding members of the wonderful National Trust and gain enormous pleasure from visiting the range of properties and countryside that the Trust owns. I'm fairly sure that this is the first time we've come away from a visit genuinely disappointed. There were the usual positives: the welcome was excellent, the facilities fine, the restaurant ok (see below).... More

Visited on a wet March Sunday... the Museum of Childhood in the stable yard was actually a lot more interesting than I had anticipated - lots of toys from my childhood to chuckle over, and the small children there seemed to be enjoying it too. The Hall itself is rather austere from the outside, and when we went in we... More

Hi LEA2011, We’re sorry to hear that Sudbury didn't live up to your expectations and hope that this reply will help to explain why we have chosen to present the Hall in this way. The Hall is intentionally bare with many pieces of furniture removed or covered to show what the Trust had to work with when it first took... More

We visit Sudbury most school holidays. Out of all the NT properties we have visited this is definitely our favourite. The gardens and grounds are dull of adventure, the woodland adventure playground is suitable for all ages lots of space to run around and you never feel overcrowded. Every school holiday there is lots to do for kids, we love... More
