The scale of this church is unexpected in a small market town, but it is beautiful and very well maintained - not as a show piece but a place of worship. Worth adding to your itinerary.

From J Boy of Derby A beautiful large parish church near the Ashbourne tunnel. It is more like a cathedral due its size with background music adding to the ambience of the place. Magnificent stained glass windows, one describing a sad story of a church...More

We have been to Ashbourne many times but never visited St Oswalds. This is a very old and very beautiful church and well worth a visit. We will certainly go back as they were preparing for an important visitor and so our time was limited....More

Not really "into" churches but St.Oswalds is a gem of a church, almost a cathedral in it's size and architecture. Approached from the Leisure Centre Car Park along a hidden path and past a row of almshouses, quite popular in Ashbourne, with magnificent gardens thrice...More

A true beauty. This church is beautiful inside & out. We strolled through the graves first & enjoyed the sea of daffodils that surrounded us. The church holds such beauty & the stained glass windows are magnificent.

This is a great piece of architecture, definitely a must see. Nice location in a historic market place, easy to find. The surrounding graveyard is kept as a wild meadow and quite a view during the spring.

We got married in St. Oswald's church some 45 years ago so are quite attached to it. The church is fairly large and has a host of interesting features including some very good memorials and superb stained glass. The Boothby tombs stand out and the...More
