If the expense of car hire, the pressures of left-side driving, and the strain of navigation are not for you, relax on this convenient mini-coach tour of the UNESCO-listed Lake District. Besides panoramic views from Wastwater Lake, Wrynose Pass, and Hardknott Pass, visit historic Muncaster Castle and ride the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway.

This really is a hidden treasure. Granted it’s quite hard to find. But it’s miraculously intact, and if you’re a history lover it’s worth seeing. It’s not a long journey, just one that makes you doubt you’re going in the wrong direction.

My husband and I visited the site of the Roman baths as part of a longer walk. The site was interesting but I would not recommend a visit just to see the baths as the site is very small. Our walk took us through farm land and down to the coastal path, which sadly is very over grown and extremely muddy, not to mention crossing a very deep ditch. My husband and I are fit 70 year olds and did manage to finish our walk but it was extremely challenging. We were dismayed to find a coastal path in such a bad state.

A pleasant walk through the woods from Ravenglas. Pleasantly surprised at the size of the site and the informative notices. Would recommend and at no cost it was worth it.

Why is this not being better preserved? It is worth building around it and making it part of a museum attraction! It's the best Roman bathhouse we've visited, make more of it please!

Not much to say about the Bath House that hasn't been said before. My wife and I enjoyed the short walk here from the village, and we spent about 10 minutes at the site. Whilst there's not a great deal left you can be impressed with the brickwork that does remain, some of which defies gravity. There's some good information boards here and it is in a lovely peaceful area. I thought it was a worthwhile visit but I can understand why some Reviewers feel it a waste of time. Shame that there are a few metal barricades around the Bath House presumably for protection purposes but they do spoil any "Roman" atmosphere.
