The Crewe Heritage Centre, built to commemorate 150 years of the town of Crewe, was opened in 1987 by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Based in a truly unique location, right in the heart of the Grand Junction Railway.

Our site is connected to the mainline railway network with the result that we have frequent visiting main line steam and Diesel locomotives present on site in addition to our own collection of rolling stock. We also have three spectacular Miniature Railway's, offering 3.5", 5" and 7.25" gauges.

We offer the facility of hiring the site out and have worked with rail industry and non-rail industry partners in the past. If you are interested in hiring the Site or the Exhibition Hall, please Contact Us.

Went to see Flying Scotsman; despite living only 12 miles away, it was also the first time I had visited the Heritage Centre. Parking a problem, ending up in the Tesco car park. Apart from Flying Scotsman itself (no footplate visits as advertised) not in steam and standing behind a wooden fence, there was only the APT to look at.... More

Myself and my two year old found this gem by accident whilst shopping at the tesco. Although moderately price to enter there was a huge train to walk around and lots of interactive things that kept him amused all day. The icing on the cake was the small steam train that he went on lots of times, that went around... More

We went here just by accident as the youngest saw the trains from tesco so we went to have a look I'm sure if your a train buffs you will enjoy yourself lots of history packed in a small zone and you have free reign where you want to go most trains were open to look at and viewing platform... There is a small admission charge but this is a fantastic place for anybody that loves seeing steam engines. Many engines that you will not see anywhere else in the country. A real heritage site.

This is a really interesting place for railway enthusiasts, I think most people would find it interesting for an afternoon with or without children.

I would not say that I am a railway enthusiast per se. I am interested in particular aspects of the railways that originate from once being employed in the industry. I feel that attractions like the Crewe Heritage Centre try to portray a fantasy idyll, and do so in a very poor quality. Much of the non-mechanical exhibits are poorly... More

Situated behind Tesco in Crewe, the heritage centre is an interesting, informative and educational museum to visit with the entire family. There was lots of steam and diesel trains to look at and the staff were very kind and helpful. Overall, a great place to spend a visit at.

Brilliant little gem, £5 for adults and under 6s are free. My 2 year old boy absolutely loved every second of our visit. Being a railway signalling engineer, the interlocking on site were fantastic. We will be visiting again soon. It is not complete, but with only donations to go on, looking good.

A complete delight by little one, who was kept busy and enthralled. Would like to go again soon with both children.
