- Alan27605379 contributionsInformative and brief. We made it right before their last tour of the day. Rosa was our tour guide. The tour is fairly short, but informative. It is concluded with a tasting of 5 kinds of distilled aguave. I highly recommend this tour if you visit Valladolid.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 27 October 2023
- Jim KWoodland, Michigan621 contributionsGood place for excellent tequilaI had stopped here three years ago just for a quick potty break and to look at the gift shop. This time I came to deliberately to get some of their tequila. I got a very nice bottle of their best tequila for a gift. It was very well received and they love the taste. I did not take a tour but it would be nice to just sit on their porch and stare out at the agave fields because it's very relaxingVisited January 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 27 January 2024
- MichelluvagoodtimePoquoson, Virginia53 contributionsUnique property & experienceMy group went on an afternoon trip to this distillery only 20-25 min. from downtown Valladolid. Amazing gift shop, incredible property. We purchased tastings and several souvenirs. The selection of souvenirs was extensive. The tasting was delightful and led by one of the women at the property. The tasting room was very large and opened up to the back patio. We went out back to get pictures and take in the vast agave farm. I would return to this place for the drinks and gifts. Lots of parking and easy to find.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 1 April 2024
- naturalkid59 contributionsDrink tequila while cosplayingI stopped by by accident. Pay the entrance fee and explain the manufacturing process of tequila → Tasting various tequilas in order with a shot glass. I added two more shots. I liked what was soaked in scorpion. After that, buy souvenirs and finish. About 1 hour. If you can drink tequila, please try it.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 27 May 2024

Alright ! Rosa was very cute. The visit lasts approximately 15 minutes, tasting of 5 tequilas of several ages at the end of the visit. Possibility of purchasing at the store. 125 pesos per person.

For only 50 pesos you can follow a short, but interesting tour. Just get into the shop and ask for a tour. At the end you can taste the different alcohols (same drink, different years). Definitely worth a quick stop if you're passing by.

Mayapan liquor is a 100% Blue Agava distilled beverage - but it can not be called legally tequilla, since it is not make is the state of Jallisco. (Just like California sparking whiite wine can not be legally called Champagne since it was not made in the provence of Champagne in France.) Too bad - as it only adds to the confusion to have to say it is really premium tequilla, but you can not call it that.
The brand new distillery, gift shop and demonstration tour area are all very nicely designed. There are also men's and women's bathrooms which are very clean and up to USA standards. The distillery is easy to find - as it is just a few kilometers North of the city of Valladolid on the main road leading to the Merida / Candun toll road.
We especially enjoyed the tour which included the horse walking around and around in circles pulling a large "crushing stone" to mash the agava "pineapples" before they are then allowed to ferment and then are distilled into the liquor.
The facility also has a tequilla shop - where they sell not only their own brand in "silver" reprosado and aenjo (spelling?), but other brands as well.
Be sure and buy a bottle of Mayapan liquor to take home with you - as Mayapan liquor is a "boutique" superior quality brand that will be very much enjoyed by any of your friends that are knowledgable tequilla drinkers.

Great quick stop while on a tour or in a rental car. Right off the Cancun-Merida Toll road and very close to nearby Valladolid. The tour is interesting. The guides gave us extra tastings. Bought a small nip of tequila. The tequila is both smoky and sweet. Very different tequila than the traditional, well-known brands. Huge gift shop where we didn't buy anything.

The agave fields are gorgeous! We learned a lot about the making of the tequila. Then got to taste! They even repoured some. The smoothest tequila ever. You can't get this in the USA. Our tour guide seemed a little tired and rushed us through but the son of owners was so talkative and we learned so much from him. Do not miss this place!

I had heard the hearts of the agave were called pineapples (piñas) and had this preconceived notion of them being the size of pineapples as well. Was I wrong! The piñas are huge. It must take two or three men to move them! But they did have the wonderful aroma of pineapples as they were cut to smaller sizes, crushed, fermented and then distilled. We sampled three types of the liquor: white, aged and old. The color got darker with age and the taste became smoother and more complex. Well worth the short trip to see everything in action. Nice gift shop as well with a number of things that are hard to find outside specialty shops. They cannot legally call this tequila but for all intents and purposes, that's what it is.

We got a little lost around Valladolid, driving from Cancun to Merida. Glad we did! We stumbled upon this small aritsan tequila distillery and really enjoyed the tour and tasting. Superb tequila! Great people. Stop in if you are in the area or near Chichen Itza.
