Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Interesting and well presented museum describing the history and art of chocolate making.
There is a well stocked shop at the end with a large variety of flavours of chocolate but you have to buy before you try. We were offered the equivalent of one chocolate button each so no chance to see if the flavours appealed. We left without buying anything.
My recommendation would be to skip the museum and spend the money of something from the shop - it will give you an all together more chocolatey experience.

We visited with our 7 year old boy. He was willing to be dragged around the exhibits in exchange for chocolate tasting at the end. When we got to the tasting room we were told it was shut due to Covid. You’d think they might mention this when you’re buying your tickets..disappointing.

You walk from one air conditioned room into the next with a spoken explanation of the contents in each room (you can press for your own language such as spanish, deutsch, english or Italian).
There is a lot if information and story of chocolate. Interesting was to see how chocolate was used and served throughout centries.
Of course they show how the chocolate is made.
It was also interesting to see on the map which countries manufacture and which countries import and also comsumption. It's shocking how small consumption is in some of the bigger exporters.

This is a short tour but worth going. You get to see the history and how it has evolved. At the end of the tour, you can purchase different kinds of chocolate. That was also one of my favorite things. (We actually went in March, not August, but I don't know how to fix the dates... sorry)

Kind of pricey entrance for what the offer. About 10 rooms with 2-3 minute audio telling stories about chocolate history.

Beautifully done, comfortable and cool and what a great way to celebrate chocolate! We really enjoyed cooling off and learning about the people and their history with chocolate.

We loved this activity, walking from one airco room into the next with a spoken explanation of the contents in each room (you can press for your own language such as spanish, deutsch, english or Italian). Its a 140 pesos entree and at the end of the tour you can taste some chocolate. Also we bought a chocolate bar & coffee beans. We spend about 45 minutes here.

I think some of the reviews here are a little generous. For the price of entry you get about a dozen rooms where you can select a pre-recorded message in one of 6 languages.
At the end you get to go to the demonstration room. We were quite excited about this until we realised that all it involved was a very brief tasting of plain, milk, and white chocolate. Yup, that was it.
So for the money it was a bit disappointing and I’d suggest to give this a miss.

Price is too high for this basic museum (190 adults and 90 pesos kids under 5yrs).
My kids said that this museum is more like horror maze. Not worth your time and money.

Great way to spend an hour or so in Valladolid. While obviously telling the story of chocolate it gave a lot of insight into general history too.
Each room you can play audio in various languages and it narrates the story. It was open until 7 and we visited early evening when it was super quiet.
The demo room was closed when we went sadly as would have enjoyed this part.
