Choco Story Museum
Jan. 2020
The ancient Mayan city of Uxmal has a pyramid, a palace, other preserved buildings, and the Choco Story. This museum tells the history of cocoa and its importance to the Mayan. The Museum grounds has paths through the vegetation, past an array of parakeets, another of spider monkeys. There is an opening where they somedays do a reenactment of a Mayan cleaning. And they have a gift shop, you can buy chocolate, and relics of everything else you thought you saw.

Hidden Yucatan Gem
Feb. 2020 • Couples
Another hidden gem in Yucatan. Very clean grounds. Friendly and helpful staff. The ceremony and chocolate preparation demonstration was very interesting. We spent over two hours walking around and enjoying the ambiance. Pairs well with a visit to Uxmal ruins. They are side by side.

Nice little museum
Sep. 2019 • Couples
Spent 1.5 hours here - very interesting and original with great price/quality ratio. Beautiful animals which were all rescued. Informative stalls (texts in English and Spanish). Worth a visit when you're visiting the ruins!

Fun little museum
Jun. 2019 • Friends
There is a small fee to get in but it is worth the price. Displays and videos of the history of cocoa plantings in Mexico and the making of chocolate are located in huts. We were surprised to attend a Mayan rain ceremony as well as a liquid chocolate tasing which was yummy. The grounds are nicely vegetated with tropical plants and there is a bird aviary as well as a small zoo with monkeys and panthers. Before you exit there is a shop with delicious chocolate to buy.

Nice little museum with interesting history of chocolate!
Mar. 2019 • Family
I thought this was quite a nice little museum and well done. As stated by some of the other reviews, the kids with us, (one teen and two middle schoolers), really enjoyed the rescued animals and birds and the adults enjoyed the Mayan chocolate ritual and chocolate making and tasting. I could have taken more time to read the information in the palapas but we needed to keep moving as it was at the end of the day after our visit to Uxmal. All in all, everyone in our group enjoyed this museum plus the cookies and other items we bought in the little gift shop were yummy.

Learned how chocolate is made, watched a traditional Maya ceremony, and saw monkeys and other animals. Well worth the admission charge!

Nice Place to Visit
Jan. 2019 • Business
I enjoyed it. Think it was well worth the cheap entrance fee (140 pesos). I am sure that kids under 12 like this place better than the ruins across the street. Animals look healthy, nice exhibits, written in spanish and english. The hot chocolate demonstration was spoken in 3 languages, he adapted to whomever was in the audience.

Nothing special, but I LOVED their chocolate
Dec. 2018 • Friends
I agree with previous reviewers that if you have an hour to kill it's ok to stop by, but not really worth it. However, I loved the chocolate they make at the tasting and the chocolate we bought at the gift shop is one of the best I've ever tried (so was the honey by the way).
