The $3 team seems like a steal to get to the beach but it's a scam. Once we were dropped off a man is waiting there to sell a cab ride to town or to use the beach chairs. We did paid for the beach...More

The beach is absolutely beautiful, clean, and the water is beautiful. There are restaurants that will allow you to use the beach, kayaks, and hot showers for free, i.e., The Krazy Lobster. A beautiful beach to spend the day kayaking, swimming, sunbathing or just chilling.
The smell was waaay too strong. My kids didn’t even want to swim in the water. They have a very small pool however it wasn’t clean. Every 3 mins someone was coming up to us trying to sell something so you couldn’t even relax on...More
Though not as developed as other caribbean beaches, it has this rustic appeal that makes it worth visiting. Services are limited but you can find most everything you might need. The sea is crystal clear and a pleasure to dive in.

I have taken the bus from Cancun to Belize, didn't rent a car until we got to Belize. Remember you are going thru some areas that are very poor, and desperate people can do desperate things. Also the drug problem in Belize is coming back so I'm afraid Mexico is experiencing the same problem. Be alert, drive in the day. The road conditions are much better in Mexico than in Belize. Be sure the rental agency has the car registration in the vehicle and everything is current.
Drive safe and have fun.

Taxis are ready, the problem is the port is owned by some very greedy private owners and it is a maze to get out of the port. Walk through the stores, don’t get distracted and see your way to “port exit”. When you see the taxis, keep going, make a left, walk down the block and a guard at the end of the fence will let you out. You will find a plethora of taxis waiting and willing to welcome you.
