The beach is wonderful to snorkle, there are some rocks, so its better to have water shoes. It´s like a private beach for people on the small hotels nearby. The bottom of the sea has lots of fishes and marine vegetation

Half Moon bay is a nice walk from Akumal Bay. With many good restaurants, it is a pleasant stroll away!

We visited the Half Moon Bay in 2007 and it was an absolute gem. Unspoiled beach with loads of palm trees, amazing sea life and corals just off the beach (snorkeling was an absolute treat), cozy beach restaurant with amazing food... Unfortunately that's mostly all...More

All beaches in Mexico are free, including Half Moon Bay. Although there is an area at the far end of HMB that is a feeding ground for turtles, I only saw one, and I snorkeled there for over a week. You will definitely see... More

Where we went it seemed small, protected, and out of the way. I am not sure that I would go wandering through any of the cities but I have no trepidation about going to out of the way beaches or historical sites.
