We stopped by this beach for lunch and to snorkel. We had a terrific lunch but did not snorkel. Lots or seaweed piled up at present. It seemed fine enough but not sure I would actually vacation here, just my opinion.

We had several people recommend snorkeling here. What a disappointment! The beach is a combination of rocks and sand. As you enter the water, you better have water shoes on as it is rocky. I swam all the way to the breakers and never found...More

Please don’t stand on or touch the coral! There are plenty of sandy spots to stand if you need to, shallow all the way out to the reef. Saw sergeant majors, parrotfish, wrasse, coronetfish, and many more. Very clear when sunny and not too windy.

Having been the HMB before, and seeing some reviewers that indicated that they did not see fish or much coral, I have to say that they did not go to the right places. You have to swim out pretty far (near where the breakers are,...More

Spent three days at Playa Caribe in Half Moon Bay. Awoke early each morning to catch the sun coming up over the horizon - awesome. They did have a lot of sargassum grass they we're working diligently to get rid of. If you are going,...More

Beautiful beach, plentiful seaweed after several days of 10-15 knot E winds. The few workers charged with the sisyphean task of removal seem to have a good method of pealing off the older layers most ready to begin rotting. The piles are still fresh... We...More

This beach is mainly residential, it has many villas and apartments for rent. We rented a villa and couldn't have been happier with the location and the peace and quiet. We were close to Akumal Bay for snorkeling with the turtles and rays. The snorkeling...More

We visited Half Moon Bay for lunch at one of the many restaurants that are interspersed between the condos lining the beach. Beach is somewhat rocky with sand in between the outcroppings of rock. Water is pretty calm with a reef across the front of...More

There are 2 bays in Akumal plus the lagoon. I highly recommend taking children to the lagoon. It's clear, no waves, fish near the entrance of the lagoon where the water is brackish, etc. Our kids loved it and we have gone... More
