The locals have figured out how to monetize the heck out of the place. Pay to park, pay to access the beach and a beautiful beach has been turned into a roped off water path for day visitors all wearing life vests to wade through...More

The sea grass is shoveled away by employees, very important btw. A large area is shallow and perfect for kids to swim.

Way too hard to get access to- silly in my opinion how difficult this place is to access- we finally were able to park by eating at a restaurant and went for an evening snorkel after and saw some turtles. It’s like the gestapo is...More

No we didn't pay $140 dollars, we paid $5 to gain entry to the beach. Took our own snorkelling gear and put up with all those guides hassling us trying to earn money from us tourists. Set up on the beach and snorkelled and in...More

We saw more snorkeling right off this beach than on any paid tours we did. Loved it! The beach was amazing :)

If you are talking about at the beach then I guess anything at your own risk. Some resorts have lifeguards. If you are talking about hotel pools I guess every hotel has its own rules.

Zoetry does focus on these subjects and will be your best choice. Secrets Akumal has yoga but no meditation. Both resorts are great. If you go to Secrets Akumal ask to meet Erik Rodriquez the Sous Chef a wonderful person.
