There are guided tours for turtles for those who want them, otherwise walking all the way to the end of the beach there are areas where you can snorkel the reef on your own and see plenty of turtles and rays. Worth the small entrance...More

We visited Akumal beach as the beach at our hotel (Grand Sirenis) wasn’t very nice. This beach was beautiful with white sand and clear waters. It cost $5 per person entry but was worth it.

Seaweed in the water, in piles on the beach, and stunk! We have been going to Akumal beach for years and never saw anything like what we saw. Unbelievable! I wish I could add photos.

We stayed at Akumal Beach for a full 15 minutes before packing up our bags and marching out. The whole fascination with this beach is the ability to see and swim with the turtles that feed and breed in the waters, and the owners of...More

We decided to hire a personal car from our hotel, avoid the pre-packaged tours and head to Akumal! The guides are SO knowledgeable and we saw 4 sea turtles and countless brightly colored fish! Amazing. It's helpful that at least I spoke Spanish and was...More

Spent a week in Akumal Mexico. Beautiful area. Wonderful weather. The tide brought in a large amount of seaweed the first day we arrived. This made it difficult to swim with the kids, but otherwise, the water was great. We rented a home just south...More

If you are talking about at the beach then I guess anything at your own risk. Some resorts have lifeguards. If you are talking about hotel pools I guess every hotel has its own rules.

Zoetry does focus on these subjects and will be your best choice. Secrets Akumal has yoga but no meditation. Both resorts are great. If you go to Secrets Akumal ask to meet Erik Rodriquez the Sous Chef a wonderful person.
