Amazing snorkeling!

Turtle snorkeling number one priority at this beach of course, I've seen 8 turtles at once around me, breathtaking experience!

The beach was a bit over crowded. We did get to see turtles, not very clear though cause of all the people in the water. What I did find disturbing is that the people that were breaking the laws in not disturbing the turtles by touching them were the tourist visiting from different countries. Please if you visit this place... More

The ocean is so beautiful. Lots of fish to see. We saw small yellow and black striped fish, long silver and blue fish and a very large silver fish with black spots (about 18" long). Get there early though. The chairs are picked early.

The beach was very nice. Not to long, not to small. Very beautiful and the big plus was being able to snorkel with sea turtles naturally.

Akumal harbour is famous for its turtles. To try and protect the turtles from inconsiderate tourists, they have implemented a requirement that you wear a life jacket. I think that this is to stop people from diving down at the turtles.

they want to protect turtles, then they need to have less tours in a day , you can't use flippers anymore and must wear a life jacket, which we just rented for 5 dollars at the dive shop on the beach , I don't mind the rules, just wish the locals also had to follow them

Swimming with the turtles at Akumal Bay was the highlight of our holiday! All of the info below applied when we visited on 13th Jan 2017. Do I need a guide? No! Ignore anyone trying to sell you a tour, you are not required to go on a tour and can still see the turtles without going on a tour.... More

We rented life jackets and went out with our own snorkel gear. Lots of turtles and stingrays. Beauty

White, sandy beach with a sea full of turtles, barracudas and Rays. The beach immediately next to Akumal village has bars, shops and a dive center close by. As you walk down the beach (south) you come across several all inclusive hotels but the beach (as all beaches in Mexico) is fully accessible to the public. Seaweed is cleared early... More
