    Absolutely stunning in every way.
Before you travel to the pyramids, I urge you to research the crazy and as I put it "very metal" people that built this city and the massive pyramids. Upon passing through the ticket booth, you will see plenty of shops and tour guides. My wife and I opted to experience it all on our own and take our time just trekking through the city and reading the information boards at notable sites along the way to the pyramids. By the way, there are multiple entrances to the city. Go to the far end entrance to get the full walkthrough experience. If you're just interested in the pyramids then you can skip to the entrance nearest the pyramids. I highly advise against this because you will miss so much of the once booming city that was teotihuacan. One notable thing I found very interesting is that the dominating trade for the city was the beautiful obsidian only found in that part of the world. It is a deep black glass with a golden shine. It was utilized in many different ways from cutting tools for all sorts of different trades to weapons. Knowing the history will give you a greater respect for the way the common people lived. The city was a massive apartment complex city with very small rooms for a family to live. It makes you appreciate the comforts we have today. There are a lot of uneven and steep steps throughout the main road with what appear to be large central courtyards in the middle of the main road so be prepared for uneven footing. In December the weather was absolutely amazing but if you go during the spring or summer you might want to bring some bottles of water. When you finally reach the pyramids you will be blown away by the daunting size of them. They are truly a marvel to behold. I would strongly recommend teotihuacan to anyone going on a trip to Mexico. We had an amazing time and couldn't be happier that we got to experience the city.

    Outstanding place to explore
For a first time visitor to Mexico City, these pyramids are must-visit. I would recommend joining a tour rather than visiting on your own, since there aren't many signs to guide and explain where to go. If you happen to also visit the Museum of Anthropology, you'll be able to learn a lot about the Teotihuacan Pyramids and its history. Join a tour that starts early in the day to avoid crowds. Wear sunscreen to avoid getting burned beneath the strong sun.

    Alley of the dead
Have you ever strolled down the alley of the dead? Well, here you can: walk up the alley with the pyramid of the moon and the pyramid of the sun in front of you. In one of the pyramids they found the leader of an enemy tribe buried alive with a jaguar (also alive) and a bird of prey (also alive) that have been put in one joint grave. This entire place is magical and catapults you back in time to an ancient civilization. A place you need to visit once in your life!

Highly recommend a guide for this huge site
We felt fortunate to have a guide to help us explore this ancient city. She made sure that we saw all the highlights and provided much more explanation than the weathered signs that were typically in Spanish and English. If you are visiting the area of Mexico City, then this attraction should be considered a must see. Unfortunately, we are no longer allowed to climb the pyramids

    Ancient marvel of Teotihuacan
Rising proudly in the hearth of Teotihuacan, Mexico, the pyramid is a breathtaking taste meant to ancient Mesoamerican ingenuity. Its massive stone blocks and celestial alignment offer a glimpse into a bygone era of architectural brilliance. Climbing its steps or admiring it from afar, visitors can’t help but be humbled by its monumental presence and the enduring legacy of its builders.

    Impressive by all means.
A must see once in a lifetime. The Sun Pyramid is the highest in Mexico and the second in the world (after Giza in Egypt) Guided tour although recommended but not really required. Just get a safe transportation to and from the pyramids area. Spend 90-120 minutes exploring the site. As of April 2024, You CANNOT climb the pyramids.

A Must-See Attraction for Mexico City Visitors
A very interesting site to see and learn about Teotihuacan. We walked from the Temple of the Moon to the Temple of the Sun then drove to see some other sites. We booked a Private Tour from Mexico City for four with En Route to Mexico (Private full tour to Teotihuacan and Basilica at your own pace) via Trip Advisor and absolutely recommend this way to see the both attractions as our guide had extensive knowledge and shortcuts to avoid crowds and vendors.

The Most Amazing Experience in Mexico City
The amazing culture survive time and place. Unbelievable! A Must Trip. We took the bus from North Terminal. It's about and hour and half. We were drop off outside the Pyramid. We walked through a Mexican Mercado before we reached the Pyramid. We bought entry tickets to see the Moon & Sun Pyramids. Most Wonderful day out. We are not allowed to climb the Pyramid as before, but still fascinating to stroll through. Also there are many merchants in the grounds selling Mexican gifts items. We spend the best day in Mexico city.

If you visit Mexico city for more than 24 hours Teothihuacan is one of the lamdmarks to visit, one hour outside Mexico city, in the highway to Pachuca.
History, archeology from the Toltec civilization, before the Aztecs are combined with excellent tourist services in a safe environment. A long queue to the pyramid of the Sun gets its reward with the amazing views of the Avenue of the Death, the Toltec sacred way from Quetzalcoatl Temple up to the pyramid of the Moon.
Visiting with teenagers or children ir alone is just an unforgettable journey comparable with Machu Pichu, Athens or the Pyramids in Giza.

This has been our second time here and it's just as magical as the first time. We spent all morning here and usually take 6-8 hours depending on your tour. We usually do it on our own but you can hire a guide for more history. Make sure not to miss the museum, like we did our first time which is on the right side of the main big pyramid in a green building. For transport, we used the Blue Bus company it was $29 dollars per person round trip and it was safe and efficient.

We took a pubic bus here early in the morning for like $6 a person and got there they opened and to have the chance to walk around before the heat and all the tourist was extra delightful.
The climb to the top and to see the landscape is magical... there are quite a few people pushing gifts around the site that can be annoying but we found the sellers at the second entrance in the huts more honest and friendly .

Absolutely spectacular. Not to be missed if you are visiting Mexico City. Best visited earlier in the day before crowds arrive and before the heat. You are no longer able to climb the pyramids as we did in 2009, but this also makes for better photos when these amazing structures are not swarming with tourists all over them not to mention that it will likely help preserve the structures. To visit without your own car, you have 3 options. The least expensive is to catch a public bus from Autobuses de Norte Bus Station but this is also the least efficient option as you have to make your way to the bus station which takes time, and you may need to wait for a bus to return to CDMX. We did this in 2009 and it worked well. The buses are generally safe but keep an eye on your possessions. A second option is to catch an Uber for $25-35 US each way. This is the quickest way to get here. Both of these options allow you to arrive early and stay as long as you want. It is also important to arrive early if using Uber as you will not want to be too late in the day trying to catch an Uber to return to the city. If you arrive early you can hop on a later arriving Uber in the early afternoon for your return. The downside of both of these options is that you will be without a guide unless you can hire someone outside of the grounds when you arrive, but the quality of the guide will of course vary in this situation. The final option is to take a guided bus tour which we did this trip. Having a guide is the best way to learn about the history and archaeology of Teotihuacan. However, most large tour buses don't arrive until later in the day and you can't control how long you visit. For example, our time at the Pyramids was only about 1 hour. I would have liked to walk the entire length of the Avenue of the Dead and see the Temple of the Feathered Serpent. Most large tours seem to make several other stops along the way before getting to the pyramids as ours did. The best solution is to arrange for a private tour arriving in the morning, but this will of course be the most expensive option. It is important to decide what is your priority when visiting and this will help you determine the best way to get here. No matter how you get here, it will be an amazing experience that you won't ever forget.

This tour visits three very touristic places, starting at Tlatelolco, where you only have a sightseeing from the outside.
Next, the best part of the trip: the pyramids! You have plenty of time there to explore the site, although you go first to a tourist souvenir shop, which I personally would like to have a reduced stop time.
Finally, you get to see the Sanctuary of Guadalupe, with some time but not much as would be required for a nice visit.
The guide was nice and helpful, but only explained the minimum.
The bus was a little bit disorganized in the beginning, hence we lost about half an hour, but it did not affect the visit of the pyramids.
Please be aware that lunch is not included and you sort of are require to have lunch at a specific restaurant, near the pyramids, which could improve its service.

One of THE sites in Mexico. Phenomenal views and structures. Best of all you get to climb up, a rare opportunity these days. There are lot of day trippers from Mexico city but the groups/guides seem to have a system of keeping away from each other and it is so large that it does not feel crowded unlike "Chicken Pizza" in the Yucatan. Do not miss this place.

US$30 uber ride from centro historico to avoid huge time waste with all the tours lasting 8-9 hours and visiting places to make you buy staff. Took us 4hrs total with two at the pyramids. Worth seeing. Temple access was closed to visitors. Some climbing on lower structures was allowed. We went on Sunday and still had to pay for tickets, 80 pesos each as I recall. Temp was showing 67F, but it was quite hot in the sun, and elevation probably added to this feeling. I ended up buying a hat.

Without bad traffic, it is a 1-2 hour ride from Mexico City, and it is worth visiting. Set 3-4 hours at the site - you might have to stand in line to go up, and again to come back down from the pyramids. There are plenty of places where to eat around. Wear a hat to protect from you from the sun; you will be in the open the entire visit.

This is an immensely popular visit with some modest queuing even out of season. What amazed us was the fact that so few people appear to visit the absolutely excellent small museum on the site. During our visit it was more or less empty yet the interpretation and the items available for view greatly assisted in our understanding of the place. It should be at the entry so it is more obvious.
There has been a great deal of restoration but that doesn't detract from the wonder of the place. An absolutely great day out, fascinating and full of interest.

My visit to the pyramids of Teotihuacan is great. since the experience of climbing the two pyramids of the moon as well as climbing to the top of the pyramid of the sun, is something phenomenal. It is fabulous to climb the pyramid of the sun because the view from that height is beautiful.
After going to the pyramids there is a delicious restaurant at the entrance... it's very nice.
It is recommended to arrive at the pyramids around 10 in the morning, even more at 11 in the morning to take advantage of several hours until 5 in the afternoon, because in addition to eating at the local restaurant and listening to music ( for those who are from abroad) Mexican as mariachi and others and also foreigners. In the pyramids of Teotihuacan you can buy some souvenirs... nothing else you should know how to buy since they tell you one price and they tell you another price, you should check well where it can be cheaper and better so you don't have problems
