Before you travel to the pyramids, I urge you to research the crazy and as I put it "very metal" people that built this city and the massive pyramids. Upon passing through the ticket booth, you will see plenty of shops and tour guides. My wife and I opted to experience it all on our own and take our time just trekking through the city and reading the information boards at notable sites along the way to the pyramids. By the way, there are multiple entrances to the city. Go to the far end entrance to get the full walkthrough experience. If you're just interested in the pyramids then you can skip to the entrance nearest the pyramids. I highly advise against this because you will miss so much of the once booming city that was teotihuacan. One notable thing I found very interesting is that the dominating trade for the city was the beautiful obsidian only found in that part of the world. It is a deep black glass with a golden shine. It was utilized in many different ways from cutting tools for all sorts of different trades to weapons. Knowing the history will give you a greater respect for the way the common people lived. The city was a massive apartment complex city with very small rooms for a family to live. It makes you appreciate the comforts we have today. There are a lot of uneven and steep steps throughout the main road with what appear to be large central courtyards in the middle of the main road so be prepared for uneven footing. In December the weather was absolutely amazing but if you go during the spring or summer you might want to bring some bottles of water. When you finally reach the pyramids you will be blown away by the daunting size of them. They are truly a marvel to behold. I would strongly recommend teotihuacan to anyone going on a trip to Mexico. We had an amazing time and couldn't be happier that we got to experience the city.

For a first time visitor to Mexico City, these pyramids are must-visit. I would recommend joining a tour rather than visiting on your own, since there aren't many signs to guide and explain where to go. If you happen to also visit the Museum of Anthropology, you'll be able to learn a lot about the Teotihuacan Pyramids and its history. Join a tour that starts early in the day to avoid crowds. Wear sunscreen to avoid getting burned beneath the strong sun.

Have you ever strolled down the alley of the dead? Well, here you can: walk up the alley with the pyramid of the moon and the pyramid of the sun in front of you. In one of the pyramids they found the leader of an enemy tribe buried alive with a jaguar (also alive) and a bird of prey (also alive) that have been put in one joint grave. This entire place is magical and catapults you back in time to an ancient civilization. A place you need to visit once in your life!

We felt fortunate to have a guide to help us explore this ancient city. She made sure that we saw all the highlights and provided much more explanation than the weathered signs that were typically in Spanish and English. If you are visiting the area of Mexico City, then this attraction should be considered a must see. Unfortunately, we are no longer allowed to climb the pyramids

Rising proudly in the hearth of Teotihuacan, Mexico, the pyramid is a breathtaking taste meant to ancient Mesoamerican ingenuity. Its massive stone blocks and celestial alignment offer a glimpse into a bygone era of architectural brilliance. Climbing its steps or admiring it from afar, visitors can’t help but be humbled by its monumental presence and the enduring legacy of its builders.

A must see once in a lifetime. The Sun Pyramid is the highest in Mexico and the second in the world (after Giza in Egypt) Guided tour although recommended but not really required. Just get a safe transportation to and from the pyramids area. Spend 90-120 minutes exploring the site. As of April 2024, You CANNOT climb the pyramids.

A very interesting site to see and learn about Teotihuacan. We walked from the Temple of the Moon to the Temple of the Sun then drove to see some other sites. We booked a Private Tour from Mexico City for four with En Route to Mexico (Private full tour to Teotihuacan and Basilica at your own pace) via Trip Advisor and absolutely recommend this way to see the both attractions as our guide had extensive knowledge and shortcuts to avoid crowds and vendors.

The amazing culture survive time and place. Unbelievable! A Must Trip. We took the bus from North Terminal. It's about and hour and half. We were drop off outside the Pyramid. We walked through a Mexican Mercado before we reached the Pyramid. We bought entry tickets to see the Moon & Sun Pyramids. Most Wonderful day out. We are not allowed to climb the Pyramid as before, but still fascinating to stroll through. Also there are many merchants in the grounds selling Mexican gifts items. We spend the best day in Mexico city.
