I've been going to Murphy's for 25 years. Unfortunately, there's been a decline of the facilities more recently. My last trip was for Canada Day, 4 nights. Overall, the natural beauty of the park is unchanged, but the water tap quality is the worst I have encountered in a provincial park. The color of the water from the camp faucet is yellow brown. Not even a water filter helps. No other provincial park that I have visited is like this. Next item is the washroom at Hogg Bay. The shower facilities are broken or in such decaying state that they spray water on your clothes that are hung up in the shower stall. Also, the central ventilation has not worked in years and leaves the shower stall so humid that water drips from the ceiling. Very poor mentenance at the park. It should be much better than this. Time for the park management to step up and ask for some upgrade funds.

We booked based on availability this year almost non existent. Very sloped but large pull thru sites waterfront if you peer thru the trees across a road on the distance. Loud noisy people and no privacy radios playing loud all the time no enforcement.
Dog beach at a boat launch who decides these things? Yes let's let the dogs play near vehicles backing up? And motorized boats? That's what we will do.
Made the best of it in covid times.

Should mention tight and narrow turn for water fill or dump station why everyone has steered off the road

An amazing all around park. Not too big and far from small with lots of great trails to hike, we did them all. Multiple lakes to explore with beautiful views galore. But my favorite delight was the campsite. We had site 31, it is massive with room for a ton. Completely private with a super high canopy of trees above with rock hills on both sides, we were in love.

Father Daughter Camping Trip. We had a nice flat spot with power, we were able to put our tent on one end and the other put our picnic table with the awning. We did some hiking, went swimming. Our spot was right near the restrooms which was nice. The park staff were nice at check in and when we went to buy fire wood. Masks were still required at this point but for the most part everything was outside so we social distanced and wore a mask when needed. Took a afternoon trip into Perth to do some shopping and check out the sights. The only downside to the trip is that the bugs were not so nice we got heavily covered.

An excellent park and the ranger keeps an eye out for the young drinker/ "music" players and load mouths. Too many youth now a days think they are the only ones in the camp or think it is their private cottage where they can disturb others. At least here, an attempt is made to keep things natural, and family friendly. Loud mouths beware!

2014 - RV Trailer camped at Murphys Point Provincial Park this year, from May to Oct. The park has tenting and canoe in sites as well as electric hookup on quite a few sites. We stayed on electric sites only. The park is clean and most sites well spaced out, each site with its own fire pit. There are outhouses near areas and also comfort stations with indoor toilets and warm showers, all cleaned daily. Main beach is located on Hogg Bay. The day use beach is worth a visit, as the water can be quite clear and most families use the Main beach. Hiking to the far beach (rocky), accessed at the boat launch parking lot, is an interesting experience, and taking bathing suit on a hot day is a must. Park store has some essentials as well as ice-cream for an after supper treat. Canoe and kayak rentals at store, as well as fire wood for that real camping experience. There is a trailer dump station and fresh water filling site, to save you bringing water in your RV. Hogg Bay and Loon Lake are restricted to non motorized water craft, so are ideal for canoes and kayaks.

My husband and I stayed twice at this park. The first time, our equipment was a tent and we were situated in the Ash Hill portion of the park. We had such a wonderful time 5 years ago that we reserved a place this year. However, since we now had a new camper, we needed full services and found ourselves on the Hogg Bay portion of the park. I was a little disappointed with the site since it was mostly gravel but liked the fact that my husband did not have to back-in the camper and just drove through. Hogg Bay did not have the charm of the Ash Hill portion of the Park that is for certain. The site at Ash Hill was so much more private and spacious! The site at Hogg Bat had little to offer ( gravel drive through surrounded by small trenches on both sides) but who spends a lot of time at the site when there is so much to do around you?

Since we own two kayaks, my husband and I took advantage of the "no motor boats" portion on the lake. I strongly recommend this area if you enjoy paddling in peace without being bothered by the noise of the power boats. This portion of the lake can be accessed by keeping to your right as you leave the boat launch. It is clearly marked as are all of the hiking trails.

Without exaggerating, I can say that during our 1 week stay at the park, we saw white-tailed deer everyday and fell asleep to the sounds of the loons every night. The washroom facilities were very clean and the staff very helpful. Fishing is best done near the beach where a small dock is found. Keep your eyes out for turtles that "pop" their little noses over the water's edge when you are there!

My husband and I loved the park's close proximity to Perth which offered great shopping and restaurants when needed. The small beach and playground found at the park was great for our friends that joined us for a couple of days with their two small children. At night, they marvelled at the sight of the fireflies that lit the forest floor.

Please take caution however when taking the hiking trails and be careful not to stray from the path without long pants since the poison ivy is voracious! My husband and one of the children were badly affected by the poison ivy sores before our stay was over. Keep your eyes opened for "leaves of three"! Our friends were also visited by raccoons so make sure the site is clear of food before heading to bed!

However, one can't complain because of the natural world that surrounds us. Nature is what it is... Murphy's Point is truly for the traveler that keeps nature close to heart and will remain one of my favourite parks!

We spent two and a half days camping in the park. The facilities are great and very clean (washrooms and showers). The park staff are all very friendly and helpful. There are a few hiking trails you can do - the 5.5 km trail was beautiful, with hardly any other people on it and a small beach with a mini island you can swim to. Our lot, #117, was very private and had full shade. The beach swimming area is small but very clean, and no seaweed in the water! There are picnic tables and big trees for shade too on the beach, which is very appreciated! We were lucky enough to see some deer and some other wild animals running around. The only downside to our weekend was that the wood we bought from the park store was damp (there was a big storm the day before we arrived). Oh and bring bug spray because there are tons of mosquitos! Overall it was a great weekend! We would definitely return!

We loved our stay at this park. We rented a tandem kayak for 2hrs-$14, and paddled around Hogg Bay. Our site #67 was easy to level the trailer on, but there were some that looked awful. There is a reason for all the pull through sites. The Hogg Bay beach was small but nice and all the families there were enjoying it. The vault toilets weren't awful like Awenda. The main showers were fine. The staff very friendly. Unfortunately the Silver Queen Mica Mine is only open a couple hrs on Sunday and Wednesday so we didn't get the tour, but there is lots of mica to be found laying around. We didn't stay there long enough to really explore. I would like to come back. The loon calls at night and the Milky Way over the beach at night definitely made it a memorable experience.

Went to Murphy's point at the beginning of August not knowing what to expect. The sites are well maintained and so are the washroom facilities. Not much to do around but sit around the campsite. There are two beaches but both are quite small and the swimming areas are not very large. Nevertheless, it's a great spot to experience the outdoors and the dark skies in the area allow for some great stargazing. Lots of wildlife in the area too as we had a deer come up right to our site!
