The museum offers a history of Bowmanville and it's founding families. However, it could really do with an infusion of cash to do some sorely needed updating. The house is architecturally interesting and was used in the TV series " Wind at Your Back "

This is a most delightful experience with staff in period costume & the house beside the museum decorated as it would have been then. We spend 5 months in the area & exhibitions change regularly, so we attend often!

This place used to be so well run before the new curator arrived. The service is bad, no organization, not a friendly place to be. The boss is never around so there's no one to complain to. Come back Charles, all is forgiven.

The Bowmanville museum is an original house (extended over the years) of an early area resident and has well appointed rooms authentic to the period. Just round the corner the Archives has various interesting displays throughout the year

Tea on the Veranda on Wednesdays - it's great! Tour the museum for only $1 extra. A great way to revisit the history of Bowmanville and area and have a wonderful lunch!!

We ate on the back patio, a group of three. It was coolo in the shade and we had a nice, light lunch. The atmosphere definitely had a Victorian feel to it. There was a woman playing the piano inside that we heard throughout our...More
