We rented a car from Enterprise the day our ship docked in Sydney. We were driving out to the Fortress of Louisbourg when I saw a sign pointing to the lighthouse. The road was a bit rough, thus our speed was slow. It took us...More

To reach the lighthouse is a short trip from the Fortress. The views are spectacular. You also get a good panorama view of the Fortress.

Iconic lighthouse next to amazing walking trail. Great photo opportunities. Its basically a 10 minute drive from Louisbourg Fortess. Well worth the detour. Roads are a bit tight and you better go slow as there are some hidden driveways and blind corners. Well worth the...More

Second only to the lighthouse in Peggy's Cove, this lighthouse is iconic. A definite must-see when you're in Nova Scotia. Take a walk down the trail and you'll enjoy the scenic view of the Atlantic Ocean, the sound of waves rushing in and beating against...More

We could see this tall lighthouse from the fortress across the water so we had to go see it up close. We learned that there were two other lighthouses there prior to this one.

Although you can't enter into it ...It's still an awesome structure to see... Just a few steps away is the original foundation of the lighthouse that was sieged by the British when firing onto Fortress Louisbourg. Follow the trail to where Wolfe's ships landed and...More

The location can be seen from the Louisbourg Fortress so is strategically located at the entrance to the harbour. The lighthouse is well maintained and the coastline very rugged as can be imagined.

You could definitely do it on a motorcycle. Keep in mind that it is a very narrow dirt road and may be slightly bumpy but nothing your bike couldn't handle!
