Cape Breton National Park is the perfect getaway. Not crowded, easily accessed, and scenic. There are great day hikes, beautiful scenery, Cabot Trail drive, and moose (I almost hit one on the road). Cheticamp is a convenient base for enjoying the park.

Great hike, kind of like 5 hikes in one.....terrain goes from lush, moss, forest, canopy, to top of mountain open air. Great views of Cheticamp (make sure you do trail counter-clockwise to see views coming back down). Takes about 2-3 hours depending on how fast...More

Coming down towards Cheticamp from Pleasant Bay, you get to see the most icon scene of the Cabot trail there is. Then a pretty glimpse of the ocean and the cliffs. They reminded us of the somewhat larger Cliffs of Moher.

This circular trail combines wonderful Acadian woodland on the inland leg and spectacular coastal views on the return. I'd recommend anticlockwise route otherwise you'll be forced to keep doing and turning round. The woodland section was my favorite. Beech trees hang on to steep slopes....More

We were with Caravan tours and the bus took us along the Cabot Trail. It was absolutely gorgeous. It reminded me of driving along Big Sur in California. There were a few places to pull over to take photos. Can't wait to develpe them.

Great seafood is here. Gorgeous hooked rugs are here. But, the reason you came is the majestic views. Whether you hike or drive along in this area, it is the spectacular views that move your spirit. Dramatic, jaw-dropping vistas take your breath away. The hiking...More

This is through the little town of Cheticamp where again we spent a night on the big red barn motel. Trails all over the place. Nice walking and great areas of water.

We did the whole loop about 8km (?) long and took us about 4.5 hours because we took out time, took pictures, ate lunch., etc. We should have stick to our original plan to just hike half the loop instead of the whole loop. The...More
