Alexander Graham Bell and his wife Mable spent the last 30 years of their lives in Baddeck where they built their home named Beinn Breagh (=gaelic for "beautiful mountain"). Visitors will be amazed at the scope and endless curiosity of this extraordinary inventor and visionary who was born in Edinburgh, Scotland. His wife Mable Bell was an inspiring woman who... More

As a Scot I was brought up to be proud of Alexander Graham Bell as he invented the telephone but this museum describes beautifully that he was more than that. He devoted his life to helping the deaf to cope with their deafness. He also invented a variety of means of mass transportation including kites and, more useful and more... More

Very nice museum on the lives of Alexander and Mabel Bell. Nice exhibits and artifacts. Beautiful 1 hour drive (each way) from Sydney. I recommend pulling over for a photo stop at the Bras d'Or Lake and St Ann's Overlooks. If you are on a cruise, I highly recommend making plans for some type of excursion as there is only... More

Not bad but could be better. The size and variety of exhibits is sure to surprise. Interesting man and family life too. Hope one day the nearby family home will be open too.

It is a modern museum which attempts to both educate about Bell and his Baddeck life. It succeeds modestly at both.

Besides the telephone, we learned that Bell invented/worked on planes and hydrofoils. For those who have family members who worked for ANY telephone co., there is a book to register the name and any pertinent info, according to our guide.

What a complete surprise and what a great find. So many interesting things to see, so much knowledge to learn. Take a couple hours and explore this museum and be amazed at what this man did besides the telephone.

My family and I came here and learned a lot about Bell and his experiments in telephones and hydrofoil boats. Nice museum and lots of hands on for the kids.
