The whole set up is well-done, but the best part was the guided tour by Clayton. He still lives next to the site and as a kids played on these mysterious mounds. He injected loads of history and personal accounts of the area. As with...More

Very impresive site with deep historic roots. It reminded us of Pingvellilir in Iceland we had vistied several years ago.

What a shame there weren't more interpreters on site to engage with the public. The replica Viking ship is in a dark shed and is difficult to see.

Staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. They have a Viking boat which made a voyage from Greenland to I’anse Meadows. We visited on a cool and rainy June day (surprise) but we were warmed by the fire in the long house. A great add on...More

Norstead is a creation of a Viking outpost, not far from L'Anse aux Meadows National Historic Site. Complete with typical barn-like buildings and sculptures. L'Anse is legitimate. But Norstead did not exaggerate on its creation. Well worth a visit, along with L'Anse. Costumed actors at...More

We enjoyed our short visit to this site. There isn't too much here but it does give you something else to do after driving all the way north. The people working in the chieftain's building were informative and very patient with all the questions some...More

Our family visited in early August 2017. The earthen roofs of some of the buildings were covered in wildflowers, which made the place extra pretty. We bought warm hand knit hats from the ladies in the chieftain's house, which we appreciated having this winter. If...More

The restored Viking village at L’Anse aux Meadows was quite interesting and informative. It is definitely an item for your bucket list. The climate is not very hospitable so dress accordingly.

They have done a great job at recreating what the viking settlement would have looked like and how it would have functioned. It gives you an opportunity to see how cozy these sod structures could actually be. When we were there the outside temp was...More
