This comprehensive tour features the best of "the Far East of the Western World". Travel from the northernmost tip of the island of Newfoundland to the most easterly point in North America through national parks - including Gros Morne, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Learn of ancient peoples - the Maritime Archaic, Vikings, and Basques - as you travel to coastal fishing communities to meet the friendly and hospitable people of today. Boat tours provide the opportunity to see whales, thousands of seabirds, and, depending on the time of year, icebergs! Sample the local food and drink to become an honorary "Newfoundlander"!

*Please note that our June 12 departure is bilingual English/German, and our August 14 departure is bilingual English/French

This was worth it to see the boat and learn about it. I always imagined Viking ships as being much larger. However, the rest of it just kind of seems to copy L’Anse aux Meadows without being as historically accurate.

There are many people in period costume to explain what you're seeing and to answer questions. It is spread over a fairly large area, so if your walking is limited, be aware that most is over gravel paths and uneven ground.

Went to Norstead after the Parks Canada tour and it was very worthwhile. Lots of knowledgeable people working, cooking, knitting, explaining about the boat, the crafts, etc. It was a wet rainy day but we still enjoyed our time there.

Loved this place. The property was interesting, but what really made were the people who work there. They toil with tourists every day and still manage to be very informative, entertaining and personable. I didn't expect the experience to be as much fun as it was, and it's because the people who work there make it so. Triple their salary please!
