My wife and I and our two adult children have wintered in Parksville for the last two years. Last year we flew in Via Nanaimo. This year we flew in via Comox ValleycAirport. 40 Knots Winery is just up the road from the airport. We visited near the end of our stay in February. It was a true delight. We went for the complimentary wine tasting. The staff member (I wish I knew his name so I could compliment him) was courteous, funny and very knowledgeable. We sampled a number of wines (I think four). They were all excellent. The guide/host descriptions and delivery was well presented. We all four walked out/bought a bottle or two. You have to have the pickled grapes. We walked out/bought at least six jars of the pickled grapes. A very unique taste. We will be back again next year.

First time here and will be the last. The male working the tasting room provided horrible service. Showed complete disinterest in his job and the patrons. Expectations not met. Will not reccomend to others while visiting the Comox Valley

Samantha, I am so very sorry to receive your reviews on Google as well as Trip Advisor. Please allow me to speak to you personally, in hopes we can better understand how our normally high level of service was not given to you when you arrived. Ian sincerely cares about each person that comes through the door and is passionate about his job. All of us here at 40 Knots are very saddened by your review, and we hope you give us the opportunity to make up for this. My Direct Line is 778-431-0142.

What a lovely setting and facilities! We went for a one hour wine tasting in their spacious pavilion with a gentle breeze blowing through some of the open glass panels. We looked over the beautifully maintained vineyards. Their wines are vegan, organic and very very tasty. Christine gave us a very informative introduction to the wines being tasted and guided us to accompany each wine with the cheese and nibblies provided. A perfect afternoon with no pressure to buy any of the wines. But we did!

We had an amazing time checking out 40 Knots! The wine is very good and we're so happy we stopped in. The staff are incredible and they have such a great spot to do these tastings. Definitely would recommend checking this place out.

My second visit to 40 Knots didn’t disappoint. We were guided through a premium wine tasting followed by a stroll through the vineyard and a wonderful picnic of all locally sourced items. Well worth a stop!

From the time I turned into the vineyard until I left, I felt like I was in a high end winery - comparable to some of the nicest in the the Okanagan. The front entry is welcoming and you can see the covered patio area where special events are held. The tasting room is tastefully decorated and peaceful.

Just a short drive to the ferry to Powell River, the 23.5-acre vineyard with 40,000 vines is home to 85% of the grapes used in the distinctive wines. Named for the strong marine winds which frequent the area, the wine has been crafted with quality in mind. No matter what your taste, there is something for everyone -Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Rose, Whitecaps, and their signature Spindrift Brut. I was surprised by the Brut which was comparable to several award-winning Okanagan Bruts.

I received a warm welcome from the staff - enjoyed our chat about travel, wine and cheese. The vineyard is just welcoming new owners, Brenda Hetman-Craig & Layne Craig.. Unlike the previous owners, they do not have a marine background and prefer to fly - this is reflected in the recently released 'Stall Speed' line of product. For those unfamiliar with flight terms, 40 Knots is Stall Speed velocity - silent and beautiful according to pilots.

With assistance from the helpful staff (sorry I didn't get your name!)I tried several wines and purchased two bottles - 40 Knots Safe Haven and Stall Speed Meritage. A tasting is $5 - however, if you are purchasing wine, there is no charge.

If you are in the area, do not miss the chance to visit and sample the wines from 40 Knots - you won't be disappointed.

This winery is in the perfect position as the vines grow in rich fertile soil left by a melting glacier decades ago. The wines are simply delicious. The cellar door staff certainly know their wines and types of grapes, as well as the history of the vineyard.

What a find! The wine tasting room is cozy and inviting. The wine tasting was excellent, informative and at the perfect pace. Good quality wines, I picked up several bottles. Can hardly wait until the pinot noir is available! Thank you Brenda!

Wine is such a personal thing. Some people love 40 Knots wine, some like it, some not. But nobody can dispute it's quality, which is superb. Lane and Brenda are lovely people, doing everything right to make their wine perfect and have achieved it in several bottles. I am a lover of 40 Knots wine and it is our go- to wine when entertaining and serving wine paired dinners. The summertime events are a thing we look forward to and when they get their kitchen up and running, the facility, as well as the wine, will be world class.

We had seen the signs off the main highway and weren't sure what to expect. When we pulled into the driveway, we were pleasantly surprised to see a lovely open concept vineyard, with a welcoming building. When we arrived, we were the only people there and got to spend a long time discussing each wine and the pairing with the hostesses (one of which was a self proclaimed "wine nerd," who was amazing to chat with and funny). We were able to taste every single one of their wines, with cracker and chocolate pairings, as the room filled up with people; both groups and small families. While they accommodated all of the groups, the child played outside and we received the same quality service. We ended up signing up for a wine club subscription (which is free and quite accommodating) as well as purchasing several bottles of wine. Then, we toured the grounds and got to see how the vineyard was set up as well as their wonderful property. Altogether, I would HIGHLY recommend this to absolutely anyone who enjoys wine, great conversation, nature and beautiful properties.

Thank you!
