My boyfriend and I went to Botanical Beach when we spent 12 days exploring the island this summer. This beach is very nice, with a decent trail system in the forest above it, with some very interesting trees. The beach it self was packed already...More

Two and a half km loop walk takes you through the rainforest and down to the beach. You can look across the ocean to the edge of the world. Massive driftwood has been assembled by industrious folk into shelters or sculptures. Lots of shells, seaweed...More

Good hike down to a beautiful beach. We got to get a very close look at a bear on the beach. Well maintained and they even have someone who patrols and guards your vehicle.

Although we didn't have enough time to really explore Botanical Beach as we would've liked, we were able to spend an hour appreciating the beauty of this stunning west coast destination. We chose the shortest of a good selection of hikes to and around the...More

If you haven't experienced West Coast nature, especially in the rain, you must go here. Great 2.7km walking trails, very well marked. Several beach access points. Take your time and soak up what the west coast has to offer.

This trail follows the shoreline and leads to several small bays. The trail is not ling or difficult. Go when the tide is out so you can walj on the rocks and examine the tidal pools with its many trapped sealife. Someone told us they...More

I love travelling in the off season, as you get to immerse yourself in nature, cool, breezy, rainy and peaceful quietness. It rained and cold, but it makes going back to your cabin that much better! Bring your hiking boots and prepare for an adventure....More

You need to plan on at least 3 hrs, hopefully more at low tide or close to that to get a complete appreciation of the beauty of this west coast nature spot. Its a fairly lengthy hike in and out on the loop trail. You...More

The road from Sooke to Port Renfrew is paved all the way, and in good shape. The road from Port Renfrew out to Botanical Beach is also paved and easy. The trail from the parking area down to the beach is easy -- mainly wide... More

From the parking lot, if you take, it is 20 minutes or less to get down to the water. The walk down to the tide pools is slightly more difficult, but neither path is difficult. If you are taking this route, I found it useful... More

You can drive to Botanical Beach from Port Renfrew in about 15 minutes. They have a good parking lot (its a round about) and at least two major access ways down to the beach, one long, one short. The shorter route is the... More
