This place is one of the places you have to visit if you have a journey in this area of France ! You have to walk a lot to find this wonderful site, however it's easily accessible, even for the kids. We took our grandchildren to show them the museum of the maquis forces fighting against Vichy France and the Germans in 1944. However it has moved to a purpose built building overlooking the huge Maquis Memorial and just contains photos of the period. Steeped in WW2 resistance history, it's also a walker's paradise with mile upon mile of deserted trails. We took our dog there on several occasions during our winter vacation. After the snow came, we also enjoyed beautiful snow-shoe routes. Look out for the small sign post on the road between Le Petit Bournand and Entremont, it's easy to miss. There's... More

The Plateau is very famous for it's part in the 2 WW and the Resistance in France, but also to-day if you are a walker or just enjoying the countryside it is stunning in every way.
