This really puts things into perspective when you see how far the water reached. I had a son living in Grand Forks at the time and it was very scary for me seeing it on TV, but seeing it depicted in the Memorial Monument gives...More

They've done a wonderful job lighting up the entire area with Christmas lights. It has a really festive atmosphere and as long as the wind is not howling, it makes for a great stop. You can drive by and see the lights but stop the...More

We're in awe of the force of nature. The monument and park is a wonderful way to cite the history of the natural disasters experienced by the people of Grand Forks and East Grand Forks. Come and see the great work and methods used to...More

We parked across the bridge at the Blue Moose Bar & Grill and rode our bikes around this area. We got 9 1/2 miles in. We stopped at this monument. It was nice. The trail has flood gates and hills to hold back any future...More

If you are at all familiar or have heard of the flood of 1997 that devastated this area...when you see this monument and the level that the water reached when compared to the bridge next to it..it will surely leave you awestruck.

Near the town square downtown; free parking available nearby. Worth a stop if you are downtown to really appreciate the water levels of the floods. Can see the new flood walls and embankments. There is a nice biking/jogging path in the greenway along the river...More

It's amazing how deep the water got during the flood of '97. Park downtown and walk to the monument or there is a bike trail that goes near it also. The kids enjoyed looking for the painted rocks with Grand Forks Rocks (check on FB).

The flood level markings are amazing. Can't imaging the water being that high. Stand there are look around 360.

The flood memorial monument is sobering reminder of the largest flood Grand Forks. It also marks the height of the river from other years to compare. Not being from Grand Forks it was very interesting to see really how high the water had been.

This oblesk along the Red River is a sobering reminder of the power of water. Amazing that the river could rise so much. The monument is a part of a popular green space.
