I had heard about Reynolda for many years and finally got an opportunity to visit. It does not disappoint. The home is lovely, and I am so happy that they provide acoustaguides, so one can go at his own pace. No following a volunteer guide who has memorized some notes here. Attached to the house is a modern building with... More

Highly recommend visiting the Reynolds estate during the spring when everything is flourishing. American history at it's finest. Beautiful grounds for a nice walk or bike ride. Bring the dog for a brisk walk before or after the tour.

We love our #dogsofreynolda! Thanks for visiting and for the recommendation. The first signs of spring are the daffodils popping up along the main driveway. We hope you will return soon! More

We had a great time visiting the house on a wet rainy day. This house was way ahead of its time. A lovely place to visit. We definitely will return for a picnic in warmer months.

Reynolds House Museum of American Art is a must see when you visit Winston Salem. The former estate of cigarette producer RJ Reynlods is a national treasure.

The city of Winston was a young 'sleepy' town near Salem in the mid-19th century, then RJ Reynolds built his first tobacco factory there in 1875, expanded, and introduced the Camel cigarette - the two communities united in 1913 to become the city of Winston-Salem. Tobacco and textiles (Hanes) sparked the development of the community into the 20th century. The... More

I was disappointed with the Christmas decorations but the house is so awesome, I guess it doesn't need much embellishment. Be sure to get the talking narrative. The recorder is FREE but remember to read the panels, too, as the information is different than what you are hearing. Look for the Wedgewood fireplace mantel. It is lime green instead of... More

Thanks for your review! The decorations here at Reynolda are more modest by today’s standards, but are reflective of when the Reynolds family moved here in December 1917. Katharine Reynolds used greenery, magnolia leaves, nandina berries and other natural elements from outside for decoration. We are glad to know you enjoyed all you learned about family and estate. We tried to visit on January 3 and found the door locked. Too bad that the website doesn't mention that the house is closed the entire month of January!

Thank you for making us aware this needed to be more prominent. After receiving your review, we added in a more visible place on our website that we are closed during January. However, some websites that are not in our control may not have our most current hours listed. We hope you will visit now that we’re back open! More

Always delightful to visit the "modern" art collection at Reynolda House and step through into the wealth and grandeur of this creation of RJ Reynold's from the early 1900's. Reynolda House was built at the beginning of the 20th century. It includes furnishings and personal objects of the Reynolds family. Wake Forest University now oversees the house, grounds and art... This was a beautiful place to visit. There was a photographic exhibit going on that was the reason we visited, but the house and gardens are worth the trip.
