We thoroughly enjoyed our recent visit to MESDA ... an excellent collection of furniture, pottery and silver from the Southeast. We also loved the Moravian collection; seeing this adds to the Salem experience. This is well worth the time and the excellent staff were available...More

Just loved this little museum of mostly Moravian artwork and period furniture. Who knew such beautiful silver, pottery, stitchery and decorative arts were being created in this area of the country during this time period.

Be sure to make this your first stop when visiting Old Salem. So much information, you may want to take the guided tour.

The museum center is the first stop, and a must see, on the Old Museum tour. The historic articles are amazing, and listening to the docents is incredibly informative. Lovely artwork, artifacts, and interesting history abounds.

What was available for viewing was okay. I've seen far better collections of Southern decorative arts. The breadth was pretty narrow. The pottery collection was outstanding. Perhaps the true gems are available for viewing with the $40 up charge tour that must be arranged days...More

We visited the museum while exploring Old Salem. In addition to an extensive exhibit of period furniture and furnishings, the special exhibit of pottery from around the south-eastern United States was amazing.

This place is incredible! It has filtered out the junk and only displays the best of the best. Ultra friendly staff led by Jane Sutton who is just terrific. They are preparing to open a wing for local Moravian pieces in just a few months....More

I think that was the cleanest most crisp looking museum and displays that I have ever seen. But there really wasn't much there and we only spent 15 minutes quickly looking at everything. If I had purchased the ticket which only allowed 2 museums, this...More
