Went to the Cotton Exchange shops to start with a lot of neat little shops. We rode the trolley guided tour of Wilmington which was fascinating and entertaining. Ate at RIverboat Bar and Grill on the waterfront for a late lunch. Eclectic restaurant with decent...More

There is too much crime near the central downtown area. It is ok and can be pretty during the day, and there are some fun bars to visit at night, but there is not a whole lot for families with children/teens to do during the...More

We weren't sure what to expect when we arrived (Nov. 2018). Even though weeks have passed since the hurricane, Wilmington was hit so badly, we weren't sure how things would be. There are some repairs still being done as you can see the equipment in...More

The shops in the Cotton Exchange are worth visiting as they are not ones one would see in most commercial malls.

Downtown is pretty, has a lot to offer. Clothing stores feature vintage, outdoor, high end, low end, souvenir T-shirts. Many eateries from sandwiches to French cuisine, a variety of bars from locals hangout spots to a piano bar. And plenty of shopping. There is a...More

Downtown Wilmington is constantly being renovated and upgraded. Such a grand place to take a tour; trolley rides, horse drawn carriage rides, great eats, ice cream shoppes, speciality stores, the river walk along the Cape Fear River, and so much more. Visit the historic Cotton...More

Wilmington NC is an awesome place to vacation. Stay close to downtown, which has a variety of great restaurants, shops and all can be walked to. Also, you are right on the Cape Fear river, and can sit and enjoy the river sites. If you...More

Downtown Wilmington is full of artsy shops and gorgeous architecture. Old buildings and homes that are absolutely breath-taking! Dining is also great and the craft market is nice too.

The best part about downtown is the riverfront area. There's a nice boardwalk on the water with restaurants and shops nearby.

The downtown area is historic and due to this, relatively small. While a number of reviewers speak to the parking meters being scarce, there are a number of public lots that work very well if you are willing to walk a couple of blocks. It...More

Because Wilmington is growing and many enjoy a city near the water, it is a place to get your feet wet at a local beach, usually within minutes, and later, put on your heels and go on a date with a friend or spouse!

Everything about Wilmington was inviting. We had a very short time in the historical area, just enough to let us know that we shall return. Loved the old buildings and I want to learn more about the city's history.

I recommend using the parking garage on Market Street, which will be your best bet cost wise. Parking on the street is not as bad as the kiosk parking lots, which are very pricey. If there is an event going on down on the... More
