Once open to the public, this grounds are now under new ownership and closed! If you travel toward Fort Anderson you may see the gates, and the alligators that reside in the ponds along the way.

I have a "soft spot" for ORTON PLANTATION as I found it a "special" place that i OFTEN think back on. Lovely grounds & "feel" here for sure ! HIGHLY recommend !

Lovely Plantation which I remember as a child visiting as well. Was a historic stop for high schools as well. Love the gardens and the people and how they portray the times.

I believe the entire ORTON PLANTATION is currently CLOSED & I haven't been able to find out when or if it will be re-opening. Try contacting the Wilmington, N.C. Chamber of Commerce they might be able to give answers here... More

I just spoke to The Visitor's Bureau there & the plantation is now PRIVATELY owned & as of right now has NO plans to open to the public but that doesn't rule our opening in the distant future. Glad to be of help..>Daryl
