Aquatic Safaris has specialized in SCUBA diving charters, instruction, gear sales, repair, and travel in Wilmington, NC since 1988. We are constantly striving to improve our shop and our service. Aquatic Safaris operates two USCG certified custom dive boats, a 30' and a 48'. Our boats run daily dive charters to wrecks and ledges off Wrightsville Beach. We are a full service facility, including on the spot nitrox fills up to 100% O2 and Trimix.

I am a new diver and very serious about this becoming an integral part of my life until I can no longer dive. Aquatic Safaris was the outfit I (and my fiancé) chose to do our first ocean dive with - hyde/markham - while also diving for our AOW cert. We were to complete this over 2 days but the... More

We did a charter boat to Fossil Ledge. Great staff, very helpful and provide good information about the dive site. The shop had the equipment ready and separated waiting for us when we arrive to pick them up. Will use them again for further charters, just need to make sure to book in advance.

This is a good dive operation for Atlantic Coast diving. They offer trips to about 30 dive sites, most of them wrecks and the ledges. Most of the dives are 20 to 40 miles off shore. Needless to say, Atlantic diving weather is fickle and Aquatic Safaris does their best to deal with it. They have a really good reservation... More

I recently dove the Hyde and really enjoyed seeing the sand tiger sharks. I think the operators are very conscientious on the boats. What I don't appreciate is their last minute cancellations. I understand they don't want to call off a dive due to weather until they are absolutely sure. However, the problem is that many of the customers come... More

I recently had the pleasure of joining Aqua safaris for a two tank charter on the Hyde wreck off of Wrightsville Beach. Having a pretty extensive background in tropical diving across the globe, I was hoping for moderate viz and a nice excuse to get back in the water after my hiatus some March. I stopped in the shop randomly... More

Aquatic Safari is a unique dive operation. It's got to be hard to base a business around the whims of the ocean, especially the ocean 15+ miles off-shore, so you have to go with the flow and trust their call on conditions. We had two rough days but still got in four dives and had a great time. Our AOW... More

I highly recommend Aquatic Safaris when diving in the NC coastal area. They run a highly professional dive trip from their website and reservation process, their excellent dive boats, to their staff, both in the store and on the boats. I have been diving for 35 years and used charter services around the world. Aquatic Safaris is right up there... More

I would not recommend scheduling certifications through this dive shop if you are looking for a location that runs on time. I've been diving 5 times through different locations, and I've never gone through a place that was this disorganized. Here's the full story. I was scheduled to come in for my Open Water Certification this weekend. I had to... More

My husband and I are relatively inexperienced divers (with about 20 dives each) and were completely comfortable with the staff and equipment here. We had a great dive on the Hyde Wreck, felt safe, and saw some amazing marine life (include sand tiger sharks - yeah!)

This was the third annual dive trip for our group and had a great time, so good we are already planning 2015 and looking to get more friends ready to join. Arrived and met with dark clouds and heavy rain with forecasts looking like more rain. Guess Captain Paul and group got their magic wand out and fixed the weather... More
