Attended Paddle for the Border and always stop for a visit to the State Park. Nice boardwalk hike over the swamps if you have the time and exhibits to attract the whole family.

Who knew? So many things to learn at the museum! From American History to natural history, the exhibits were simple yet deep enough to interest adults. The boardwalk hike has great interpretive signage.

Visited with wife and daughter. No entry fee. You can rent a bike or kayak for $5/hour. We toured the visitor center and hiked the trails. We saw two deer and one small green snake. Great way to spend half a day.

After making some inquiries and checking on line the closest campground appears to be the Chesapeake Campground within 30 minutes of the Dismal Swamp. Website is very informative Hope this helps.

Not close to the park.. You will have to go into Elizabeth City. That is about 20 miles away.
