Rainbow Falls was worth the hike and is one of the prettiest falls I have seen in N.C. Wonderful seasonal worker who showed us the timber rattler. So passionate about his work! Wonderful state park!

Relatively new and beautiful visitor center where staff provide a lot of Southern Hospitality. The movie in the Visitor Center gives a great explanation of the unique weather and geology in this area of western NC.

I loved this park! It was beautiful but parts were closed off because a bear was in the area, so I guess I'll have to go back one day! My husband and two sons (in their 20s) also loved this park!

The Rainbow and Turtleback Falls hike is perfect for moderate hikers like us. About 3.6 miles total with great falls views.

We took sandwiches and lots of water with us on our hike to Rainbow Falls. This is a rigorous hike, so be aware. I used my hiking poles (such a great help!), and we both wore our hiking boots. What a gorgeous waterfall!!! It took...More
