Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

So glad we took up the recommendation of the Visitor Centre to pay a visit here. Warm and welcoming volunteer at the reception. Large array of handmade gifts and art as well as education and history displays. Loved the tree top walk. Wish we had more time to enjoy the walks as well

... you'll see more than trees. As visitors from UK with little time and much to learn we found the Centre delightful. Very welcoming staff and the option of coffee included in the ticket is a great idea. As well as enjoying Forest-related information and various displays, we chatted with the impressive Rocking Horse maker and wished we could have afforded (and carried) one of the horses! Plenty of beautifully crafted souvenirs, including useful ones, we brought away fridge magnets and fragrant furniture polish.
We didn't go with children but could see how well they are catered for. An educational experience for all ages, we warmly recommend this Centre.

Lots to see here! The entry has a lovely local retail section and small art gallery. Our kids loved the unique interactive displays - digital microscope, scary specimens, drilling and burning - and we enjoyed all the local info and history. We all loved the nature play and the super high tree top walk. Don't skip it!

For all ages, a wonderful experience - so much to see and do. Friendly helpful staff, and they even allowed our little dog to join us. Thank you.

We had a great afternoon out here which started with an adventure following the emus and their footprints from town. Lots to do once inside, particularly great for families!!

Whilst in Dwellingup we visited the Heritage centre. It cost about AU$5 each to get in and it is only a small centre but has a lot of history describing the history of the area especially the logging industry. There is also a short walk through the forest where you can go up to the tree top level to and see the occasional red tailed parakeet flying around. Well worth a visit if you want to know about the history of the area.

The Forest heritage centre is a long drive from Perth but if you want to learn about the WA wood then thus place is great. Although there is an entry fee it is surprisingly modest - only $13 for a family.
There is a shop with locally made artifiacts, mostly wood but much more. Everything was high quality and reasonably priced so we all came away with a quality wooden souvenir.
A small interpretative gallery explains the WA woods and even allows visitors to try their had at burning messages into wood.
Outside there is a loop track through jarra forest but on the day we visited it was very hot and and this diminished our enthusiasm to read all of the excellent interpretive signs. The highlight was the high wooden stairway which took you almost up to the canopy top.
The centre holds woodworking workshops and there is an extensive workshop area where we talked to an enthusiastic worker who was making marvellous rocking horses.
Staff were pleasant and helpful but there was the impression that the place had seen better days. However the experience was enjoyable and felt genuine. If I lived in WA I would return to do a woodworking workshop,

For many years, Dwellingup has lived off timber. The trees, mainly jarrah, are felled and then turned into useful things. Because it is very strong and resistant to decay, jarrah is shipped as far away as London. It is used as sleepers in the London Tube; jarrah sleepers can last more than 50 years. Perth's Canning Bridge is built mainly built of jarrah, and it's lasted for almost 100 years. The Forest Discovery Centre is very informative, I wish it was there when I first went to Dwellingup 50 years ago.

We took our kids here as it was a cheap option (family $13)for something to do whilst it was raining and we all enjoyed what they had to offer. There was a few hands on experiences for everyone and a nice bush walk outside complete with a tree top walk and bush humpy
