Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This visitor centre had a bit of everything. No matter what your purpose, there is something within for all. This includes also a large array of souvenirs and gifts along with local crafts. It is not likely to be a quick stop on the way from where to there.

Derby Jetty to go meet Derby’s iconic Jetty Queen ( catches awesome fish & Muddies) shes a legend and one of the most loveliest girls you’d meet. Langies and May River for fishing, tour to Horizontal Falls, Sportys Bar where you find great food and lovely bar staff, Jila Cafe and gallery for good coffee and great pizza & food in general. Go visit Mark and Mary Norval at the beautiful Norval Gallery, such hospitable people and very generous of their time talking about everything Derby 😁 Visit the swimming pool and say hi to Sian,Jackson, David & Harry. Take a beautiful jetty walk at sunset. Take photos of the beautiful sculptures around town. Go buy some beautifully carved Boab nuts from Roy or Dennis, usually found outside the information centre or corner by Spinnifex hotel.
I found the local indigenous people to be very friendly with a ready smile and hello. Mowinjum Art Centre. So in a nut shell all communities have their problems and Derby doesn’t deserve to be pigeon holed for the 2 or so percent of incidences that goes down, it really is great and I would definitely recommend it to anyone travelling. Have an open mind and yes be careful, lock up as you would anywhere else on your travels.
Thank you Derby Town for a wonderful experience 😍

Worth a visit! The friendliest, most informative staff, who had current knowledge on the GRR & all other areas. All questions answered - definitely one of the best info centres I’ve been to

The most friendly and helpful staff. A great collection of reasonably priced souvenirs. Even items to help if you find injured wildlife.

We always make the Visitor Information Centre our first stop when moving around. This is a large well set out centre with lots of information and souvenirs to purchase. However, we were left a bit disappointed with the service we received from the young girl on duty. She didn't seem to want to encourage us to do anything in the area, we tried to book a tour to Horizontal Falls and that was booked out so we had to push here to see when the next available date was either from here or Broome, and then when we asked if there were any other tours she said no and when I asked what there was to do she handed me a town map.

We are grateful to Karen, Chris & the whole team at the Derby Visitor’s Centre for their excellent customer assistance in planning our trip, their superb centre and great full day tour of Windjana Gorge & Tunnel Creek.

We also appreciate their recommendation of Bron’s Derby Bush Adventures customised tour.

Thanks - keep up the great work!

We visited the Derby visitor centre twice during our time in Derby and both times the staff could not have been more helpful.
Very proud of their town and the beautiful surrounding area, and very knowledgable.
They have some lovely gifts and a good selection of books.
Well worth a visit if you are in the area

Driving through Derby we stopped at the info center. The staff was very helpful and there are loads of great souvenirs as well. Actually worth a second stop on our return trip through Derby a couple of weeks later. The public restroom outside is functional but nothing special.
