The Diamond Valley Railway is built for kids. Adults can just fit on. The train does a circuit of Eltham Lower Park. The railway people do a great job of keeping the trains going; they are mainly steam engines. By the way, there is a small fee for kids above infant age. Kids love the Diamond Valley Railway.

The Diamond Valley Miniature Railway proclaims that it is "one of Australia's finest passenger carrying miniature railways." Children love the railway, adults may find the miniature carriages a tight fit. The railway usually runs every Sunday, but the corona virus scare means that operations have been temporarily suspended, but will resume when the crisis is over.. The railway is in Lower Eltham Park. There are several places for kids to play. Eltham Town is five or ten minutes down the road. This is one our favourite Sunday outings, kids love it, especially boys for whom it's like a real train, just smaller. All tickes are $3, except for children under two, who are free..

What a fantastic hidden treasure, any kid (or adult) dream to be sitting behind a railway engine whether it be petrol, diesel or steam powered, the train ride lasts for approximately 14 minutes all for 3 ausd, fantastic valley, you can also request a tour of the site depending on availability of a volunteer, Definitely worth visiting this attraction even just to see the variety of Locomotives

I didn't know DVR even existed until today. What a fantastic operation they have and the people who are involved are happy to tell you about the setup. I took my grandson who is a Thomas the Tank nut (20months) and couldn't stop him from smiling and talking in his own lingo. great value for money too, one of the best attractions I have taken him too, even with the long queues, although with the number of trains they had running it wasn't too bad. Mostly in he shade while waiting. Think I will have to investigate joining the club and becoming a volunteer.

Response from Ted B, Secretary at Diamond Valley Railway
Responded 19 Feb 2020
Thanks for that. Encouragement is always good. You are most welcome to join. If you would like a tour, mention it to the people in the Ticket Office, and they will arrange it. We are also at the Railway on Wednesdays for maintenance. Drop in and ask for someone to talk with about membership. $20 a year and many roles to choose from. Help serve our community and put a smile on kids faces as well as having a great time yourself. Thanks for your interest.
