The Canyon Walk is a must do when in Bright.
The walk meanders along both sides of the Ovens River, the full walk takes about 40 minutes and is relatively easy.
There are 2 swing bridges along the way crossing the first one will shorten your trip.

Great walk from town. Beautiful scenery and plaques along the way explaining some of the history. A comfortable walk for the average person. I am in my 50's and managed ok though did stop a few times but i am unfit.
Lovely views of the river and a few places to stop for a swim. If you do want to swim suggest buy the river shoes you see in shops in town as the stones do hurt your feet.
Take lots of water if a warm day. A great walk to do that only takes an hour or so depending on how many stops you make.

An interesting and varied walk. When wet there are some slippery and muddy spots. Info along the way. We started near the toilet block at Howitt Park and went all the way to the suspension bridge. It was a total of 4km and took us just over an hour.

A few days ago I enjoyed doing the canyon walk with a group from the resort we were staying at .
A very interesting walk, great views of the river, took plenty of photos, Nice to learn a bit of the history of the canyon and about the gold miners that worked here , saw evidence of where they cut into the rocks and panned the waters for the gold ,
That must have been a hard life.
The track is quite easy to walk , but there are a few steps and rocky areas so if you have mobility problems it could be hard, but you can just do the easy sections .
The walk was about one and a half hours, very pleasant

My wife and I walked the full length of the 3 km circuit walk along the side of the river to enjoy the scenic views and the exercise.
The Autumn leaves were beautiful to look at. We crossed two pedestrian bridges along the track.
It is easy to see why this is one of the tourist highlights of Bright.

This was an absolutely gorgeous walk. It was a relatively easy stroll along the river, with beautiful surrounding trees. Part of the walk included walking over uneven rocks with several natural and man-made steps - not suitable for frail or elderly people who need mobility assistance, or who are a falls risk.
I’d advise doing it early if you want some good shots without lots of people in it, as it’s understandably a popular trail.

The Ovens River has created a gorge through rocks close to the Bright township. The Canyon walk explores this area, beginning in the parks near Star road Bridge continuing through bush and past the remains of gold mining races. I usually enjoy the hour loop crossing the river at the rail bridge and returning to Bright along the Northern bank. Shorter options are available using the suspension bridges.

A relatively easy and quite visually enjoyable walk. Easier, flatter town side but still not difficult. Full loop takes and hour to hour and half. First half town side only suitable pushchairs and bikes. We completed in drizzle rain and Brolley which added to the walk.

We enjoyed this river loop walk in Bright adjacent to our beautiful accommodation at Merrimeet cottages. It’s a very picturesque walk, only took about an hour return, although you can extend it a lot further if you like.
Was pretty easy terrain, stunning clear water, and not too hilly. Signage along the way points out the various sluice spots and hand made gorges in the rock created by the gold miners in the 1880s when gold was discovered in the area.
Very similar to Arrowtown, New Zealand but a bigger town.

The Canyon Walk has an easy trail and well sign posted. There are a few (moderately) steep sections and stairs, but largely this is an easy walk. There are a range of vistas along the walk which follows one side of the Ovens River and then returns on the other side (if you cross at the 2nd swing bridge).
We did this activity in very light rain and it was just as good. So, I'd recommend if you are in Bright then do this walk.
