Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

In our recent trip to Barossa Valley, we decided to stop over at the Whispering Wall on our way from Lyndoch to Williamstown. After we left Chateau Yaldara, we set the google map ready heading for the Whispering Wall but then we got lost. After making a circle around the reservoir, we managed to speak to some locals at the Goldfield Museum. Evidently the GPS or Google Map has pinpointed the location of the Whispering Wall incorrectly so it won't take you to the right spot. Despite the misleading Google drama, we ended up here and did enjoy the amazing experience listening to people whispering to you from the other end of the dam. Kids may have more fun running around but we only stay 5-10 minutes here.

Came with low expectations but came away grinning! This underwhelming park holds a treasure...yes the whispering wall. It’s unbelievably fun to whisper across this parabolic dam and hear others across the way. The grounds are nice for a picnic as well with clean bathrooms.

A must do in the barossa. Mind boggling and a joy for young and old to witness (hear). The story behind how they discovered the accidental 'whispering wall' is fantastic too - but I don't want to give away too much!

I used to take my children here and they loved the fact that we could hear each other from so far away. I went again recently, more than 30 years later and it’s still fascinating! Very nice scenic drive out there. It’s free with ample parking.

Loved this place. You don't need to spend heaps of time here, just enough to see it and walk over and back, but its pretty amazing. And crazy that you can whisper from 1 side to the other and hear the person! Try it! Lovely natural spot. Worth seeing! Glad we did!

It is simply a dam wall for the Barossa water supply that gave us this cool unintended consequences. Talking into the wall enables your voice to heard clearly 450m away. Toilets are available. 15min stop to stretch your legs.

This Whispering Wall is not in Williamstown, Victoria as shown by Trip Advisor but in Williamstown in the Barossa Valley in South Australia.
I have not visited it but have put this review in to help anyone who might be confused.

This is a very interesting dam that carries voices from one side to the other.
If you are using Google maps don’t just search for whispering wall. Instead use “Barossa reservoir park”. If you find yourself on a gravel road you are on the wrong road.

The whispering wall is a fantastic free stop on the way to the Barossa valley from Adelaide. It only takes about 10 minutes to do when there. The turn off is on Yetti Rd. The 140 metre wall being able to transmit softly spoken works from one end to the other is amazing. There are toilet facilities there and ample parking. You may even spot some of the local kangaroo population!

Can a wheelchair be taken on any of these trips
Written 5 November 2017
You need to go down steps to the platform on either end of the wall if youi want to try out the 'whispering' part. But you should be able to cross over the top of the wall in a wheelchair

It was hot when we tried to visit last week, so the wall was closed. Will it be open tomorrow (wed 20th jan 2016)? We have to travel 2 hours to see it, so would be great to know in advance.

Hi Tracy. thanks for your review - I remember the WW from my childhood days and am taking my children there with some friends on Sunday.
I note you took a picnic lunch, which we are planning to do - where did you eat yours? Is there a nice spot nearby?
thanks!
