They offer a generous free wine tasting across a good selection of Timon of their range. Can recommend anything red from here.Thank you for visiting Langmeil Winery and we are glad you enjoyed our red varieties.Written 27 May 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited May 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 5 March 2024
- Dianne BAdelaide, Australia28 contributionsLangmiel a gemWe visited Langmiel winery on Saturday August 17th. The cellar door was warm and inviting with a fire in the hearth. The staff were welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. We loved that we could choose our own tastings with wondering information from the staff. It was a wonderful afternoon and if you can only visit one winery in the Barossa make it Langmiel. Bravo, we will be back 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟Thank you for your kind review and the 5 stars.Written 16 September 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited August 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 20 August 2024
- Katie C88 contributionsExcellent experienceSooo much fun! We walked in and received a complimentary wine tasting in front of a fireplace. Our host was sooo attentive, conversational and knowledgeable about the grapes of the region. She even shared the wind “bible” with winemakers tasting notes. 10/10 recommendThank you for taking the time to review your experience.Written 16 September 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 29 August 2024
- Michaela MWestmount, Canada387 contributionsGorgeous WineryThis was our first stop of the day. A gorgeous old winery with old Buildings in the premises. Langmeil vineyards have the oldest Shiraz grapevines in Barossa and the world. We sampled lovely wines . The staff were super friendly and helpful. A must stop if you are in the Barossa.Thank you so much for your positive feedback.Written 14 October 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 29 September 2024

Beautifully presented winery with free tasting of a reasonable range of wines. We had a friendly and knowledgeable hostess. The wines weren't bad and we picked up a couple of bottles that we liked. Worth a visit.

Langmeil was one cellar door we almost didn’t visit. But a late change of plans worked in our favour.
This winery is set among beautiful old stone buildings. After paying up to $40 for tastings elsewhere we were surprised and delighted to find that tasting here are free!
Better yet, we lucked upon two terrific and informative cellar door staff. They gave an overview of each wine without being pushy. But they were also chatty with groups who wanted to engage. In our case they gave some good dining recommendations.
On the day of our visit they happened to have two of their premium wines available for tasting (also free).
Their mid tier and widely available wines like “Blacksmith” and “Valley Floor” are reliable, consistent and will suit many occasions and meals. But the Fifth Wave Grenache was a standout. Easily the best Grenache we tasted in the Barossa.
There was no hard sell at the end of the tasting, just well wishes for a safe onward journey.
If you’re visiting with kids, be sure to check out the well near the car park - this indicates the level of the water table below the Barossa.
Clean toilets were a major bonus.
Cellar door tasting like they used to be. Highly recommended.

Our car club had a weekend away in the Barossa, and if you only do one winery tour while you’re there then you must do this one!! Johnathon was amazing and so knowledgeable. I’ve done a few winery tours and Wow this was amazing. I learnt things that I hadn’t heard before. He kept the whole group enthralled with what he was saying, and to top it all off, he organised a special tasting in the Barrel room. We will definitely be recommending this tour, it was fantastic

I can't praise Langmeil staff enough. We went for a Long Table Lunch which was all inclusive- tour lunch and wines. It was a very special event and we were looked after so very well. The wines are lovely and the food was very good and plentiful. Staff go out of their way to cater for whatever you require. They only do these type of lunches about 4 times a year and I would love to do another one. I can't rate the staff highly enough - attentive without being overbearing - happy to chat as they worked and very knowledgeable. We have been to Langmeil several times for wine tasting but this was a wonderful way to spend an afternoon tasting wines accompanied by excellent food. Very happy.

Hi Mitchell, how lucky were we to host this right before the COVID lock down! Unfortunately the May long lunch didn't happen. Lovely to get feed back from guests, thank you.

A fantastic winery that is a must see.
My partner and I undertook the freedom tour with Johnathan as our guide. The knowledge and passion for the winery that he shares with you throughout the experience, ranging from the origin of the winery's Germanic history and the early day to day life of ''Long Mile,'' to the present day developments we now see.
The freedom vineyards are special in their own right, to have lasted so long and produce the wine they do. Additionally, the vineyards produce some of the most complex and amazing wines. The range of reds on offer are incredible and a must try for red lovers.
Honestly, do yourself a favour and book the tour or even a tasting. Johnathan is incredibly knowledgeable and generous, we really appreciated the tour and the effort that made it even more special.
Needless to say, we walked away heavy handed and will be back.
Thanks again!

I have been visiting this winery for years
Their wines are sensational and tasty.
The cellar door is gorgeous and the staff make you feel ridiculously welcome.
With each tasting they get better
A nice mix of quaffers and wines that are absolutely top shelf.
If you visit one winery(as if), it must be langmeils

Called in to taste a Langmeil wine in memory of a mate. We spoke with a staff member who remembered him and this led to us tasting an Orphan Bank wine and visiting the vine that he sponsored.
It is an amazing winery, beautiful wines and EXCEPTIONAL staff, nothing was too much trouble and they made our visit SPECIAL.

A very good friend adopted vines many years ago. He has since passed away and we are visiting Langmeil once a year to toast his friendship and check the vines.
The staff on Monday afternoon were friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable- they made us feel very welcome.
A must to visit.

We visited the winery just before Covid lockdown and have delayed writing a review. On a recommendation we decided to do the Freedom tour and it was the highlight of our visit to the Barossa. Jonathan was a fantastic, knowledgeable host who patiently educated us on the history of the region, winery and the whole winemaking process. We were lucky enough to be there during harvest so were able to taste through the process plus some excellent wines in a private tasting session. Thanks again and I hope the winery continues to flourish!

Thank you for your wonderful review and so glad you took time to do the Freedom Experience tour and taste - Jon is amazing with the knowledge he holds. You came at the perfect time and well done on beating the COVID lockdown! Things have been very quiet at the winery for a while but we are so pleased to be welcoming visitors back again and show off our special little place in the world.

As part of a WA based wine club 8 of us finally managed to make it to a week in the Barossa. Langmiel was one of our highlights.
Our delightful hosts expertly guided us through the history and process of their beautiful wines.
The grounds and out buildings are lovingly preserved and a walk through the vineyards provides ample photographic opportunity. Definitely recommend a visit.
