We had done a tour of wineries before and found that they changed to venues about and that 8 or more was to many places to visit.
This time we hired car and decided to see three to four per day over a two day period in the Barrosa and Adelaide Hills.
Elderton was a wine we first encountered in 1989 and loved it and still do. So it was a must to see on our list. Others where Wolf Blas, closed for several days so no luck, Two Hands and Meltons.
Certainly Eldertons has the best cellar door I have ever seen. It's a beautiful old house and you get to try wine at the counter or seating in luxury.
The bathrooms are also fantastic and not the old tin sheds of the past I was seen in other wineries.
The lady on was very friendly as we were the only ones so far this day. All quiet in the area as tourists more interested in Bike races.
They have a tasting charge, all do, but waived if you buy. We like reds so my wife, I'm driving , does the tasting and selects a number that she thinks are just fantastic. Having just returned from France were wines are not full bodied and range from 45 to 500 Euro this was a great first start.
A nice case in the post for when we get home.

We are so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your tasting with us! We certainly agree that 8 wineries is a lot to visit in one day and that a more relaxed itinerary allows you to enjoy the ambience and savour the wines. We'll look forward to seeing you again next time you visit the Barossa. Cheers, Jodhi

Martin Howley & friends went for a tasting and found the cellar door host welcoming and very knowledgeable about both the wines and the vineyard history. He asked pertinent questions to establish rapport and an understanding of our tastes and budget. He tailored the tasting to suit us all and was able to put a custom package together that we were very pleased with. Overall a very pleasant hour or so.

We visit the Barossa Valley and Elderton every year and it is always such a great experience. Every member of the Elderton team take such pleasure and pride in representing this family winemaking success story. The drive through the vineyard to the spectacular cellar door builds the anticipation of some excellent wines which deliver at every level of varietal and price. For me, I am always amazed at how well these wines drink upon release yet cellar brilliantly. Don't miss Elderton if you are in the Valley.

Superlatives are not that useful with Elderton - just a professional outfit. I first enjoyed their wine around 1995 and have been a regular customer since. The range and quality is difficult to find replicated elsewhere and the people are just fantastic. The work they have invested in their Barossa Valley property has resulted in a magnificent show piece that can be enjoyed by all.

Four of us did a tasting a Elderton last week. We are all wine buffs, who have tasted extensively at cellar doors around the world, and I have to say that our experience at Elderton was World Class.

We had booked for the Exceptional Sites tasting, which we took in front of the fire at the historic Ashmead residence (now the cellar door) on a winter’s afternoon. The house itself is set in the middle to home block vineyard site, surround by vines, some quite ancient, so the setting is special.

Jodhi hosted us, guiding us through the range and throwing in a couple of unexpected treats along the way. We are familiar with much of the Elderton range, and so it was no surprise that the wines were excellent.

Equally, Jodhi was a warm and professional guide, whose knowledge, enthusiasm and passion for wine shone through. As we departed we spied her Australian 2023 Best Wine Communicator - Cellar Door award; based on our experience, that accolade was richly deserved.

Thanks Jodhi and Elderton for rounding our time in the Barossa with such a great tasting, and (as Kiwis) for the Pinot Noir banter!

Undoubtedly, one of the best experiences in the Barossa Valley. Fantastic Cellar Door for tasting in a relaxed atmosphere with knowledgeable and friendly staff. Some may think that their premium wines could be on the expensive side (due to their superior quality), but don't let that put you off - they have something for all tastes and budgets. It is a MUST-DO for serious wine tasters, so don't let the opportunity pass. Be the envy of your friends when they find out you have visited Elderton Wines.

Fortunately the winery we were first going to visit was busy so they asked us to come back in 45 minutes so we popped into Elderton. Haven't been to their cellar door for years but we were very impressed by the venue and tasting experience. We chose a $10 flight and $15 flight which was perfect for the 2 of us, along with a few 'bonus' tastes of some super premium wines. The guy who conducted the tasting was both informative and friendly. We didn't get his name but ex ASO.

While the house, interior are certainly beautiful and the staff is friendly the wines were below my expectations. It's certainly a question of individual tastes, but we would not go back.
Tasting costs $10 per person for 5 wines and is only redeemable for purchases of $100 and over. All in all a disappointing experience on our visit.

I'm sorry to hear that the wines selected were not to your taste. As you experienced our team are friendly and we genuinely try to ensure each visit is enjoyable. We do offer a number of different tasting flight options which you can choose from and are listed on our website. Should you wish to visit again I would be happy to personally guide you towards other wines within our range which may be more to your liking. I can be contacted via email jodhi@eldertonwines.com.au

An amazing experience. The experience provided by Jodhi was exceptional, she made us feel so welcomed. The ambiance of the cellar door was also outstanding, and then there is the wines. Spectacular!!! The vintages each year is always sheer quality at an awesome price point. Huge thanks Jodhi for a wonderful time.

Nice cellar door at a family owned vineyard just outside Nuriootpa. Sadly I was disappointed in the wines which were mostly fairly ordinary offerings and expensive for what they were. The staff member concentrated his attention on the trendy couple from Sydney rather than the local ‘pensioners’. Would not bother again.
