About
Elderton Wines is a small, family-owned winery, situated in Nuriootpa, in the heart of Australia’s Barossa Valley. The second generation of the Ashmead family, brothers Cameron and Allister, now run the winery day-to-day and are passionate about producing wines that are balanced, varietally correct and classic in nature. Visit Cellar Door to taste the range of wines and experience some of the Barossa's oldest vineyards.

We spent three days 2 nights in the Barossa wine tasting. So rang the day before to see if it was pet friendly. Yes, outside veranda- if it rains, etc etc. well we drove up got our dog out of the car and made ourselves at home. Daughter went inside to organise tasting (we had been inside last time). Oh no the woman told us she was ‘down a staff member’ and could not do outside tasting. She ‘couldn’t leave the phone unattended’. As if they don’t have a mobile. We would have been the only two customers!

Thank you for offering your feedback. You have obviously enjoyed an experience with us previously and I am sorry that we were unable to accommodate you on this occasion.
Our tasting experiences are hosted inside however we do offer guests the opportunity to purchase a glass of wine or self-guided wine flight under our veranda whilst enjoying vineyard views, although I understand that these options did not appeal to you. At the time of your arrival, we were unexpectedly short staffed due to illness and only had one team member working who was due to greet other guests with prior bookings and was also managing incoming calls including bookings to be rescheduled. Whilst she was mindful to try and communicate this to your daughter, we do understand your disappointment and hope that you found an alternate venue to make the most of your day in the Barossa.
I apologise that you felt our team member was being lazy or perhaps unaccommodating, this was definitely not her intention and I hope that in this context you may give us the opportunity to welcome you again on another occasion.

Our favourite experience out of our week in the Barossa. Mel’s style had the perfect balance of information and allowing time to enjoy the tasting. We felt welcomed and relaxed. The wines here are delicious and the setting is beautiful.

A relaxing afternoon drinking the merlot and sampling the cheese platter. Sitting in a room with a fireplace. The wine was Devine and the platter delicious. Walking distance from the Nuriootpa caravan park.

The Elderton Cellar door is a beautiful place to taste, learn about and appreciate the great wines produced there. Everyone was very friendly, a relaxed atmosphere and one of the best experiences in the Barossa.

My wife and I had the pleasure of meeting Jodhi the Elderton Wines Cellar door manager at the Brisbane Good Food and Wine Festival. She was wonderful ! Friendly, knowledgeable and passionate about the Elderton Wines story. We were so impressed we have arranged a trip to the Barossa in June and Elderton Wines is certainly a ‘must do’. Undoubtedly, one of the best experiences in the Barossa Valley. Fantastic Cellar Door for tasting in a relaxed atmosphere with knowledgeable and friendly staff. Some may think that their premium wines could be on the expensive side (due to their superior quality), but don't let that put you off - they have something for all tastes and budgets. It is a MUST-DO for serious wine tasters, so don't let the opportunity pass. Be the envy of your friends when they find out you have visited Elderton Wines.

We visit the Barossa Valley and Elderton every year and it is always such a great experience. Every member of the Elderton team take such pleasure and pride in representing this family winemaking success story. The drive through the vineyard to the spectacular cellar door builds the anticipation of some excellent wines which deliver at every level of varietal and price. For me, I am always amazed at how well these wines drink upon release yet cellar brilliantly. Don't miss Elderton if you are in the Valley.
