Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We expected more... this was a stop on a Barossa day trip. It was nice to see the kitchen and hear the story of the filming there, but otherwise it is just a big gift shop and tourist trap. There was nothing we could purchase that appealed, or that we could bring back to Canada in our luggage.
The restaurant was off limits to our tour, I thought the docent might prepare an appy or something to taste after her kitchen talk, but we got nothing to eat, which was extremely disappointing considering where we were!
Nice grounds, but not worth a return visit.

We arrived at lunchtime and because we hadn’t booked, we couldn’t get a table in the restaurant. Instead we had a delicious platter and a glass of wine in the Farm Shop. We were not disappointed at all. Afterwards, we purchased some goodies to take home.

The location is lovely and the shop certainly has nice products on display, but unlike last visit, due to COVID, nothing was available to taste. The platters available to purchase looked very basic when we were hoping for gourmet. As the restaurant was booked out we decided to go elsewhere. Just unfortunate but this is the second disappointing visit so I won’t bother again. Other places delivered better bang for the buck today.

Great place to taste test a variety of produce and drink options available for sale at the farm shop. Friendly staff available to answer any questions and offer suggestions. Can walk around farm too, and food available in eatery or cafe.

Good quality produce and lots of variety including some unusual products. Now sell beer and cider. It is a big commercial operation these days so looses some of the “personal touch”. Don’t expect cheap or even cheaper at the farm shop door.

We came here one afternoon for lunch with friends. I cannot express the horror we experienced with the service in this restaurant, and in particular from the blond middle aged lady managing the restaurant. Firstly, we were greeted by her with a gruff smirk. We asked if we could have a table for five for lunch, and she responded with a bit huff and then flat out said “NO”, until another waiter highlighted that there was space outside. She begrudgingly took us outside and left us at an table. The restaurant was so disorganised, every waiter came out confused as to who ordered what meal and wandered around yelling peoples orders since the table number system was impossible. The blond lady barked orders at people, dumped plates heavily onto table and at one point even rolled her eyes and scoffed at me when she noticed I had put some additional chilli on my food. The food was absolutely amazing, but the service here is absolutely horrendous. I even heard another little family sitting next to us say “wow, that woman is really horrible. The service here is awful... should we leave?”... they, and WE, should have!!!

Shop - that is what this place is - a commercial heaven of everything that is produced under the Maggie Beer name.

I was not expecting something so commercial. I thought there would be more information/education about the ingredients, how the birds 9that you can see in the cages) are raised/treated before being turned into pate (how is pate made?), but alas no - it is just a shop selling the entire range of products and books.

I am not sure why people think that small containers mean it is something special - I buy quince paste in 700g tins for $1 more than the little containers of Maggie Beer quince paste at my local supermarket in Sydney - I was amazed at how the people were buying things up because they some how thought it was special or different.......being a marketing person I should not have been so surprised.

Not what I expected, too commercial for my palate.........

Its rare I provide a poor review, but I have to in this instance - the Maggie Beer Farmhouse is AWFUL!!

Pros - nice scenery

Cons -
- poor signposting
- too many (pretentious) people,
- the pate 'lunch' was quite literally a tub of pate you can buy in any supermarket which came with a soft bread roll,
- to compound this pate was really the only option for food,
- the 'Farm Walk consisted of quince trees, emaciated sheep and quails

If you want to eat Maggie Beer, go to your local supermarket, otherwise if in the Barossa, go elsewhere (the Loo Miranda Cellars have very nice lunches)...

My favourite was a walk around the lake and bird aviaries, the restaurant was closed however we were still able to look inside at the gift store, cooking school and cafe' and plan to return on a weekend soon.

We went there for lunch which we thought it was to be so great as she is noted to be such a great cook .
But unfortunate it was the worst experience I have ever had .
The service was terrible I can not blame the girl who was looking after our table as she was in training as it is the responsibility of her senior staff who should be keeping an eye on her. The food was ok but was overpriced.
