Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This place is always worth a stop, not just because of its appearance on the famed Midnight Oil album cover, but because it's just magnificent. Have stopped many times and on the long weekend was lucky enough to experience it with my car club, adding that extra special touch to a special place with our classic Aussie Holdens. Always changes throughout the day and seasons. Now a car park has been constructed in front allowing much safer viewing. If you visit Burra or drive the Barrier Highway then you really have to do it.

Only realised the house featured on the Midnight Oils album was near Burra a few days before we arrived. It's a classic to visit and emanate Peter Garrett's on stage antics....the best. !!

It's a shame you can't get a closer look BUT I totally understand the owners position.

If your a fan it's a must do.

Visited this site at sunrise, but the cloud gods did not play nice. A unique site esp if your an oils and Ken Duncan fan. The farmers cottage is roughly 100+ yrs old and is one of the most photographed sites in Aust.

"Some people laugh, some never learn
This land must change or land must burn
Some people sleep, some people yearn
This land must change or land must burn"
--Warakurna lyrics

This iconic house is from the Midnight Oil album cover. You can only stop at the fence line because it's on private land...but that's where you need to be to see this house. Just on the outskirts of Burra... it sits and it's easy to find. The local information centre gave us directions to it, but you won't really need them if you are familiar with the album.

My uncle and I stopped to get photos and there were English tourists taking photos of the house as well...they had come looking for it because of the album cover as well.

You won't stop here long, but it's interesting... and a bit of an Australian icon thanks to Midnight Oil.

Set in the middle of a field this vacant tatty house oozes character and with the hills and blue sky makes a fantastic photo.
An easy 5kms north of town on the way to Hallett, you cannot miss it.

We got a map from the burra information centre which is full of place to see, 1 place was the midnight oil house, had to google it as I didn't think it was actually in south Australia, and behold it is. If your a fan of midnight oil and want to visit the iconic house on their cover visit it just out of burra. All year round its visible and offers breathtaking pictures with each season.

I don’t care about which album covers this house was on but it is a great photo. I got one with a red sky and sheep behind as we were passing. And it was in a Qantas ad too.
