About
Taylors Wines is a family-owned wine producer with an impressive list of award winning wines. The Taylor family’s vineyards are situated just outside of the tiny township of Auburn in the picturesque Clare Valley. These vineyards were first purchased by the Taylor family in 1969. Originally, wine merchants, they were singularly passionate about wine and set out to craft exceptional wine that would rival the best in the world. Their winemaking philosophy centres on the knowledge that if you ‘respect the fruit’ you can preserve the delicate nature of those elements we enjoy most about wine; the flavours and aromas. This is how they achieve the seemingly contradictory outcome of ‘enormous delicacy’ or ‘massive finesse’ when it comes to the flavour and structure of their wines. Taylors Wines are branded as Wakefield Wines in the northern hemisphere due to trademark restrictions held by the owners of Taylors Port.

VERY DISAPPOINTED. We had No Wine Introduction or any Tasting Process. Our Wine list was written on a post it note which was then lost. There was no discussion or information on our wine choice it appeared that our attendant has no idea. When we asked about the fist wine choice, we were given the response of ' What do you want to know'. We waited for such a long time to receive our next wine choice, we got so annoyed that we left before all our tastings were finished. We were very disappointed as we regularly purchase your wines from our local bottle shop.

The Taylors Cellar Door was above exceptional. We didn't get the name of the blonde lady that looked after us but she was very professional, and very friendly. Of course the tasting was above expectation. Taylors is the best. Recommended to all.

Excellent service from the staff. We arrived on a quiet afternoon and really enjoyed the brand new cellar door space. Wine tasting without pressure but staff available for any questions. Can imagine spending a whole afternoon out on the lawn with friends playing the outdoor games which are available under the backdrop of the vineyard and imposing Taylor’s ‘castle’ up above.
And as a bonus the staff even noticed and pumped up our almost flat tyre for us. Thanks for a great visit, I will remember it when I buy my next delicious bottle of Taylor’s wine.

Went for a tasting and wound up having a plate of snacks as well. Stephanie was our hostess and she did a great job. We discovered a number of wines that we will certainly be buying in the future - my favourite the Jaraman Shiraz - and we find it is available at our local wine shop in New Zealand so happy me! Other wines (all red as that's our preference) were just as good and I've discovered a couple of them over here as well - they're in my wine rack at present. The experience was excellent, made better by Stephanie, and we'd be sure to go back if we ever come to Clare Valley again

A very cold reception. I know Taylors Wines to be quite a reasonable wine and was looking forward to a first time visit to the cellar door and situation. The attendants (as that was what they were) really had no interested in talking through the wines. One lady in particular just poured the wine sample and basically went back to a conversation with another person and then disappeared into the winery leaving us high and dry part way through the tasting. They were indifferent, aloof and had no interest in what there were doing. It leaves an after taste. I will probably walk past Taylors in Dan Murphy for something else now. It's a long game, you lost me.
Just to add, I'm a wine buff and been to nearly all wine areas in Australia and many abroad but never to Clare Valley. My observation of Clare Valley and cellar door experiences and tasting was pretty poor. I'm used to having people walk you through a tasting with some knowledge of viniculture and passion - not just following a script.
Last thought, it might have been because we visited during the week and the attendants are less experienced?

Thanks for taking the time to review your visit to Taylors Wines Cellar Door. I'm sorry that the experience on the day you visited did not meet your expectations. You were right in your assumption that it was likely that the team member you encountered was inexperienced. You may be aware of the hospitality and retail staff shortages that are impacting businesses across the nation and our region is no exception and has been impacted significantly. Currently at Taylors Wines, most of our Cellar Door staff members are just learning the ropes at present. We offer a superb training and development program for our staff and of course the requirement to deliver high levels of customer service and product knowledge are acknowledged as paramount in the training. What a shame you didn't take the opportunity to deliver your feedback in person to the manager on the day. I'm sure we could have rectified the situation immediately and it would have been a useful learning opportunity for the new team member. I hope you can see from previous reviews we have received that your experience is not the norm when it comes to the service we deliver at our Cellar Door. I do hope you give us the opportunity again to welcome you to our Cellar Door so we can deliver the kind of visitor experience for which we are renowned.

My partner and I visited for a wine tasting and decided to share a cheese & wine and a chocolate & wine tasting. We were delighted to have been gifted a double chocolate tasting for the price of one, as well as large wine pours (amazing as it meant not halving a small piece of chocolate). Both tastings were incredible - I’m a cheese lover and he’s a chocolate lover so we both left very happy! The wines were beautiful - especially the Pinot noir chardonnay. Service was exceptional. Yes, the Taylors Estate Pinot Chardonnay Brut Cuvee sparkling is a firm favourite with all of us here at the winery so we totally agree with your assessment of this wine!

We enjoyed a magnificent wine and cheese and a chocolate and cheese tasting experience at the lovely Taylors cellar door in Clare. The cellar door staff were wonderful providing information about the local wines, cheeses and chocolates and they assisted with their local knowledge offering us ideas to discover some other beautiful wineries in the Clare Valley. This truly was an amazing experience and is not to be missed when visiting Clare Valley.

Have enjoyed various Taylor’s wines for many years and was high on my list when visiting the Clare Valley. Was not disappointed. Surprised there was a range available for tasting at no cost. Have a number of wines only available from the cellar door. Have found all the Taylor’s reds, even the cheapest, can handle some cellaring with positive results. Staff were very informative and helpful.

We had a Scoopon deal and definitely were not disappointed.
The wine tasting was done professionally, without being pretentious. And both cellar door staff members were equally good.
Our platter was put together, using local produce and was enjoyed outdoors, with a glass of Tempranillo.
On arrival, I noticed that there was no seating, with back support and, having a serious back issue I asked if it was possible to have a chair with a back on it. Not a problem. They headed out back and wiped down a chair for me, before bringing it to the front of house.
